Who uses vocoders ?2005-03-11T03:26:35+00:00It seems like vocoders are one of selling features of many synths, hardware and soft, but with the exception of the now infamous Cher song, I haven't heard one used since the 80's.(Styx and Alan Parsons, for example) :?: Am I missing something?Jongleurhttps://www.kvraudio.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=36039
By controlling the voltages, we control the frequencies, by
controlling the frequencies, we can control the human mind.
.... but God knows the machines took over our brains last
night ... who is controlled and who is controlling?
The MS2000 comes in real handy - on stage, and in the studio. I also use a Vocalist VHM5 for wacky vocoder-like effects, even though it's not a real vocoder.
I know I'll get flamed for this, but.....
I still haven't heard a vocoder VST that blows me away... Not saying they don't exist, I just haven't had the pleasure of using one that "wows" me yet.
The song by Cher wasn't actually a vocoder. It was a vocoder-like sound created with Antares Auto-tune.
As to artists that use traditional vocoders, Underworld uses them alot on Karl Hyde's vocals, they just do it very subtly. Listen to the song Two months off to here what I mean.
