One hardware synth you drool over?

I want the Moog Modular I learned on. Bet it's in some warehouse now, packed away and forgotten for decades.
"Huh -- what's this old thing?"
"Oh, just an obsolete phone switchboard or something. Come on, help me shift this stuffed elephant so we can fit this case of fantod stabilizers in."

I actually have pretty much all of the hardware synths I lust after...Dotcom Modular, Kyma, G2, MWXTk, K5000. I still want a Voyager, and that will arrive soon.
I don't really drool over vintage stuff these days. I've got tons of it, and while it all has a certain charm, I prefer more modern things. I like to play my gear, not repair it.
Wouldn't mind having a VCS3, though.

Okay, what about this "physically modeled" (literally) Synthetic Clarinet? The raw materials required for that instrument can often be obtained for free. (Think promotional giveaways, not petty office theft.)braj wrote:...show me a free synth in the hardware world!
Perhaps we should nickname that synth "One Puff Only"?

You got that right, mate. That thing is beyond huge. It can do some of the most lovely modulating pads imaginable.tomg wrote:I don't even need it but what I lust for is a Oberheim Matrix12 It's got to be the most reliable best sounding piece ever made by anybody.

I haven't settled on a decision yet. Probably the rack version. However, I am sorely tempted by the Electric Blue. Realistically, I have little space in here, so the rack is probably the best bet. Plus, I will be getting one of the Haken Continuum controllers soon, and I reckon that could be a great controller for the rack...seamonkey wrote:I knew you couldn't resist it.Scot Solida wrote: I still want a Voyager, and that will arrive soon.

Poor smitten sod. When it comes to it, will he really let the practical considerations of space and convenience play a crucial role in his final decision?
Not hardly likely...

A good ole Mini.
Or maybe an Arp.
Or a Jupiter.
Anything analog, vintage, and still in tune really.

Hmm... synths that I would drool over...
...The Yamaha WX5 wind controller, with VL70m module.
...The Yamaha SY99, with a breath controller.
...any synth that's connected to a Heil Talkbox.

If I let myself be pushed around by practicality, my studio would consist of a laptop and a small controller, and I would own more than one pair of tattered shoes. I refuse to kowtow to common sense!
