Cubase Specific VST in Tracktion 1/2

Hi Folks-
I remember there being a VST incompatability thread, but I didn't see it up the top anymore. Sorry, if this is a dupicate question...
While most VST plug-ins DLL files (on PC) can just be dragged from directory to directory (as long as it's scanned) with no ill effects, there are some that can't. I own Cubase SX 2.2 (yes, I admit it) and also Tracktion 1.506 NFR; I plan to purchase the 2.0 upgrade ASAP!
While back in Cubase the other day (I can't even remember why) I rediscovered the Embracer and Monologue VST plug-ins. I copied the DLL files from the Cubase specific VST Instruments folder to the general one that all my other VSTs reside. When loading Tracktion, they are automatically placed in the ignore list.
I was wondering if anyone knew why (besides Steinberg placing some code that only allows them to work in Cubase) and if there was a way to alter them to work or if there's a possibility they could work in 2.0 (I know, no one officially has 2.0, yet!) The VST spec is still a mystery to me. I know that the Embracer has a surround function, so maybe that's part of the problem? Hmmm.... Thanks in advance for any light you could shed on the issue!

That not a good enough reason for you?jarzynka wrote: I was wondering if anyone knew why (besides Steinberg placing some code that only allows them to work in Cubase)
If there is, it almost certainly breaches your license terms.jarzynka wrote: and if there was a way to alter them to work or if there's a possibility they could work in 2.0

If its any consolation, T2 will include a bunch of plugs that won't run in Cubase!

AFAIK the plugs included with cubase are locked to cubase and other hosts wont / cant see them as valid VSTs ...
(much like many (all ??? ) of the T2 bundled plugins will only function with T2 in the same way final mix is currently locked to T1)

By the way, Final Mix is available as in a standard VST format now. It's nowhere near as good a value as it was in T1 (especially the NFRpHz wrote:AFAIK the plugs included with cubase are locked to cubase and other hosts wont / cant see them as valid VSTs ...

Very powerful compression in that Final Mix plug.. I couldn't see a price for the vst version though..?By the way, Final Mix is available as in a standard VST format now. It's nowhere near as good a value as it was in T1 (especially the NFR ). Check the link: http://www.acumalabs.com/VST.htm. Looks like other Acuma Labs plugins might be ported to VST as well.

Oh well, in that case I'm sure she can find some wrist exercises for you.. are we in danger of drifting off-topic a bit here?pHz wrote:yeah ... but i cant see my fiance being too happy about that (her battery bill might become prohibitively expensive)platinumears wrote:Maybe.. masturbating would probably work better.pHz wrote:my watch is quite heavy ... would looking at it more often strengthen my wrist ???

Wow you guys are fast! 12 replies in, what, a half-hour?! I appreciate it! I actually liked the Embracer and Monologue synths. Pity I can't use them again, pity.
Some things are worth leaving behind for Tracktion, though. Thanks again!
