What is the easiest way to add measures inside of a completed song (expertly f'd up arrangement)? Is there anything as easy as Reason's "Insert Bars Between Locators"?

Post

Yes, but I'm not in front of my sequencer right now. As a starting point, set markers at the bars where you want the new 'blank space', then select the whole track (click its name, on the left). The option should be in the main options window at the bottom.

Like Lunch Money said, but I might add you can select multiple of tracks by pressing Ctrl while clicking on them, then once they are all selected and the mark in/out placed, click "insert into track"=>"insert space in the marked region".

Even faster, select one track, hit CTRL+A to select them all. Then do as described.

Once again a 'hidden' feature of T that I never bothered to know about before.

I really need to go through that hotkey list and try out each and every one of them.

The only problem with this is that if you have automation curves set up on a track or tracks, they will not move with the clip(s) that you have inserted the blank space into...the automation curves will need to be cut and pasted into their proper locations on the tracks...not a big deal if you use keyboard shortcuts thouogh...

Post

Isn't that addressed in T2? I thought I read somewhere where Beno said that automation moves with the clips now. I could be wrong though.

Keys....I seem to remember the same thing mentioned somewhere around here also, but since T2 isn't here yet, I just assumed Big D was asking about T1...

I was and it worked like a charm. Thanks y'all! :D

Post

Yeah the automation moves in T2 when you insert space onto a track or tracks. Also, automation can be moved by shift dragging a node in T2 as well.

feature? :? - actually it's one of the most common windows shortcuts (besides crtl+z, crtl+v, crtl+x, crtl+c, del. etc.) - it works nearly everywhere...

Let's put it this way - if you are ignorant to it like I was, then it's a feature. :hihi:
