Currently I am using Tracktion and love it for it's workflow. It is so much better compared to Samplitude.
In Sam there are too many dialogs for simple operations in my opinion.

But if T2 will cost 200 $, I consider to buy Sam Classic instead (the crossgrade from SX is about 299) for mastering and audio editing. The audio editing features in SAM are great.

The new features of T2 as described on the Mackie page are not so important for me.

For recording and arranging, I will continue to use Tracktion anyway.

why not just using the Audio Studio then? :?

You mean using only SAM ?

These things I like much more in Tracktion:

- input assignment (allthough it wastes some place on the left side)
- drag and drop and exhanging of vst's,
- routing
- clip editing
- track copying
- copying vst's
- doubling tracks on the same channel
- reusing configuration (racks)
- midi in place editing
- intuitive usage of tracks for midi and audio

and finally --- no dialogs

nope - I meant why not buying Magix Music Studio instead of Samplitude and thus saving a few hundred bucks when you don't need midi/vsti support anyway...

Does music studio have the same audio features as Samplitude (e.g. Convolution, Spectral Filter, Comps etc) ?

Post

here's the version-difference chart for Samplitude:

http://www.samplitude.com/de/versions8.htm

as you can see Sam Classic has convolution only offline...

Audio Studio doesn't have it at all but instead it has (unlinke Sam Classic) Elastic Audio. It has the normal dynamic processor, the eq, the fft-filter etc. - just like Sam Classic it doesn't have Blockfish&Dominion 2 ...

I guess I should stop to praise the Audio Studio - you guys need to do a bit of research on your own if you want to save some money - I'm a bit afraid the Magix guys might browse this board and if they notice that too many customers of their pro stuff realize how valuable their consumer stuff is then chances are that future versions of MusicStudio will have much less of value... :?

You can't transfer ANY Cakewalk product, period. And yes, it does.
While this might be the case in the United States it might be of interest for others that this doesn't apply for customers in all countries.

In Germany in particular (and I could imagine possibly in other countries in the European Union, maybe others as well) restrictions of a software that aren't obvious before the actual purchase in a shop are considered invalid. So whatever the EULA you are presented with during the installation says, if you bought this product shrinkwrapped in a shop and the box didn't warn you in big letters "Attention! You'll never be able to resell me again!" you do have the right to resell it as you like.

German computer magazine c't tested Sonar 4 lately, and if I remember correctly they pointed exactly this fact out, and when they contacted Cakewalk about it they were told that customers here should simply ignore that part of the EULA.

If anyone is interested I can search for the article and verify this.

greetings
BenK
