My *ahem*, studio.

Space is pretty tight - but it's not too much of a problem as I've bugger all hardware anyway.

It is a surprisngly capable program. Deceptively simple to use, but with the ability to produce sounds of amazing complexity. The Effects Room an the Spectrum Sytnth are fantastic. Probably the most fun I have had in the digital domain outside of Kyma.lsd wrote:I have it, it's pretty "dope". Yeah. I had the SH-09, which was the synth-a-like version in the series and I played with both the RS-09 and the SA-09. Erm, try not to wince at the creaking of my old bones when I say that they were currently on the market at the time...(kaff, ack...garumph). I liked the RS, though I couldn't afford it (heck, I couldn't afford a NEW SH-09 and had to get it secondhand), and besides, I was after a full-blown synth at the time. I ended up getting the Moog Rogue...endmusik wrote:I have to hand it to you scott - everytime you praise something that I end up buying, I'm never dissapointed.Scot Solida wrote:It is a surprisngly capable program. EDIT: I should add that I have amongst my many Yamaha analogs of that era their version of the "string/organ/brass/synth-combo", the SK30. It's organ section is actually an early implementation of FM. It needs a repair, which I have not gotten around to...every "B" key is dead.

Urrrrmmm, aren't both Kyma and Metasynth software things? Or am I missing something in the conversation here?
Back on topic [sort of], my studio is about to expand considerably as I am about to triple the number of hardware keyboards in it. I just got an Edirol PCR-1 off ebay for f**k-all and I am going to buy seamonkey's Micron when all the f**kers [employers/clients] who owe me money pay up.
Of course, saying its for the studio is a little misleading as we'll only ever use the Micron live but the PCR-1 will go very nicely in front of my PC keyboard and should get a ton of use. Micron, K-Station, PCR-1 and SPD-8 will make for a very potent and portable live set-up. If only we had a laptop we would probably get away without any excess baggage charges. Maybe we can borrow one for Germany? Or lease one!?!

Actually, I have several friends in Nanjing (where the girls are formidably beautiful -- You are lucky!
This place is the most awesome undiscovered realm of art and musically creative pleasure on the planet. I thank God everyday that no one believes it!
Quite honestly, this is THE place to be if you have any creative talents at all.

Really? My impressions from the couple of times I was in Beijing were that its a shithole. And whilst I've seen plenty of good, creative stuff [visual effects type stuff] come out of there, almost none of it was made using legal software even though it was all commercial work. Its very easy to undercut everyone else when you are dodgy as hell. But again, I digress.
