actually, scot convinced me on the xtk too, and the fs1r, and... oh crap, I think for the safety of credit limits everywhere I should just redirect conversation away from synths anytime I talk to him :hihi:
C'mon man, let's talk Dotcom Modulars. And Kymas. And MetaSynth...Your creditors will be yelling my name in moments of passion...

Space is pretty tight - but it's not too much of a problem as I've bugger all hardware anyway. :)

I have it, it's pretty "dope". I also have the wizoo book, the program is rather deep.

It is a surprisngly capable program. Deceptively simple to use, but with the ability to produce sounds of amazing complexity. The Effects Room an the Spectrum Sytnth are fantastic. Probably the most fun I have had in the digital domain outside of Kyma.

Yeah. I had the SH-09, which was the synth-a-like version in the series and I played with both the RS-09 and the SA-09. Erm, try not to wince at the creaking of my old bones when I say that they were currently on the market at the time...(kaff, ack...garumph). I liked the RS, though I couldn't afford it (heck, I couldn't afford a NEW SH-09 and had to get it secondhand), and besides, I was after a full-blown synth at the time. I ended up getting the Moog Rogue... In any event, I remember that the store's salesman had the SH-09 hooked up to a CSQ sequencer and was playing along with the RS. Man, that seemed like the bigtime to me! I saw one again some time later at a secondhand shop in Phoenix, but it was sitting next to the CS-60 I subsequently purchased (wanna cry? I bought the CS-60 for $150! This was when analogue was still "unhip").

EDIT: I should add that I have amongst my many Yamaha analogs of that era their version of the "string/organ/brass/synth-combo", the SK30. It's organ section is actually an early implementation of FM. It needs a repair, which I have not gotten around to...every "B" key is dead.

Yeah but that PCR-1 is a pretty neat little package. I use one! ;)

you have such a cool studio in Beijing? :o  :-D

I've heard the art scene is in Beijing cooler and more active than anywhere else in China - that seems to be true... (my girlfriend lives in Nanjing at the moment where everything is really dull...)

Oy! Do you live in my house??? Actually mine is the same 'cept for a KVM switch due to lack of space. Much better now the hardware is all gone!

Urrrrmmm, aren't both Kyma and Metasynth software things? Or am I missing something in the conversation here?

Back on topic [sort of], my studio is about to expand considerably as I am about to triple the number of hardware keyboards in it. I just got an Edirol PCR-1 off ebay for f**k-all and I am going to buy seamonkey's Micron when all the f**kers [employers/clients] who owe me money pay up.

Of course, saying its for the studio is a little misleading as we'll only ever use the Micron live but the PCR-1 will go very nicely in front of my PC keyboard and should get a ton of use. Micron, K-Station, PCR-1 and SPD-8 will make for a very potent and portable live set-up. If only we had a laptop we would probably get away without any excess baggage charges. Maybe we can borrow one for Germany? Or lease one!?!

You have no idea... :hihi:

Actually, I have several friends in Nanjing (where the girls are formidably beautiful -- You are lucky! ;)

This place is the most awesome undiscovered realm of art and musically creative pleasure on the planet. I thank God everyday that no one believes it!

Quite honestly, this is THE place to be if you have any creative talents at all.

Really? My impressions from the couple of times I was in Beijing were that its a shithole. And whilst I've seen plenty of good, creative stuff [visual effects type stuff] come out of there, almost none of it was made using legal software even though it was all commercial work. Its very easy to undercut everyone else when you are dodgy as hell. But again, I digress.
