3) there's an option in preferences to not use midi for pads that fixes this.

di you use an installer? it kept on saying "this is not a valid vst directory" so i even tried to trick it and created a dummy one entitled "vstplugins" but no it would only install in the steinberg one!
That's extremely odd. I installed it where I wanted it.

Yes, I used the installer. No other choice.

And yes, there is a preferences setting to allow you to click on the pads to hear them. Don't know why this isn't on by default.

Nope, very low CPU on my Athlon 2000 laptop using Traction, EchoIndigo IO. What host are you using? What driver/soundcard are you using? Is the 10% usage you are showing being reported by the host or by Windows?

The question is, can i now rename that folder to just "DK+", and can i put it in another subfolder of my choice in my vst plugins directory?
a) I installed the two plugins in the folder of my choice.
C:\Program Files\VST Plugins\Drums\Samplers\NUSofting DK+\

b) I also renamed them both, to DK+.dll smd DK+lite.dll

c) CPU load is fine here, XP2600+ <5% cpu

d) For Sequencer triggering, make sure you are sending the triggers on MIDI channel 16.
- C3 and C#3 start and stop the sequencer
- the midi notes ranging from C1 (#36) to B2 select one of the 24 patterns of the DK+ internal sequencer
