A Telephone only transmits audio on a narrow bandiwdth (typically 8 kHz - I think). A 8 kHz band pass EQ should sound pretty much like a telephone.

it's not the effect that is annoying, it's how its used within the context of a track. if you don't want it to sound cliche, then don't use it like everyone else!

Nope, the SpinEQ was fully functional, no time limit, no dropouts. The version on the bundled CD is a demo, but there was a code in the mag that you had to email to spinaudio to receive the complete plugin by email.

Don't they include it in every issue? Look through the readmes, etc.

I agree about the Bandpass, which is why I heartily recommend BugPass yet again.

Jeez has something up his sleeve for BBA (posted somewhere in another thread) that will combine this kind of simple 'telephone effect' with a cellphone audio compression effect.

You can just phone the sound in....

Step 2. Get a real phone.

Step 3. Call yourself on one of the phones.

Step 4. Hold other phone to microphone.

Step 5. Record away.

Yup! People like to make their own lives difficult, though.

Plus, sometimes you want to apply the 'phone effect' to a vocal part that also doubles as a high-fidelity vocal performance.

Best plugin for the 'Telephone EQ' effect?
