I've scanned three screenshots, they're not remarkable - there's also a little box about Aux sends too.....I can't see a function for attaching pictures to posts though, and in the absence of any webspace I'm not entirely sure what to with them. If someone else can host them then PM me and I'll email them to you, or anyone who's curious just PM me and I'll chuck them your way. Sorry chaps!

I dropped into WHSmith and had a look. It's a great little review, but to be honest it could have been for T1. Didn't really go into _any_ detail about the new MIDI editing at all.

Perhaps there's not much to say in that regard.

Agreed - it's a geat puff piece but not very informative.

perhaps its a review of the product rather than a review of the changes ???

(not being picky - but perhaps a reviewer / casual reader would be more concerned with how the product as a whole operates rather than being bothered by the 'what ifs' that occupy the minds of us existing users ??? )

True, but then, I have no idea if T1 was ever reviewed by Future Music, or for that matter what selection of FM readers have experience of T1.

I would have thought the new features would be worth mentioning in their own right and not because they are innovations/changes from T1.

well it was neat to see the drawing automations and the new midi interface at the least.

T1 was never reviewed by FM and has only barely been mentioned before this review - hence the emphasis on an overview of how T2 is different to other sequencing software (as opposed to how it is different to T1).

In fact Tracktion is featured on the cover of the mag, alongside Garageband 2 which is also reviewed (and also given a Platinum Award - they were more generous than usual this month and also awarded one to Reason 3.0).

The "cover story" as it were is about how newer, cheaper sequencing software is challenging the dominance - and the unnecessary complexity - of the old school.

I can host these pictures, if anybody hasn't seen them yet.

As pointed out on the other thread, part of Tracktion 2's success in this review is because the FM method of scoring allows 10 marks each for "ease of use" and "value for money"... so Tracktion instantly gained its first 20 points!

But Tracktion 2 is only given 7/10 for "quality of results" (which is noticeably lower than the "quality" mark given to any of the other sequencers recently reviewed that I listed).

Reading the review in full the only "quality issue" they raise is with Tracktion's timestretch, which they roundly condemn, even giving audio examples on the CD of how bad it is.

The failure to deal with Tracktion's terrible timestretch quality - in spite of so many requests over the last year or two - seems to have cost Tracktion dear in this review at least, and I expect that this will be commented on by others in future reviews.

As Promised.

And it proves that reviews are bollix, why should I give a toss what Fm or SOS reckons about T? It's a brilliant piece of s/w, that's what it is.
