not to labour this point ... but as i (and others tonight) have said ... its a case of horses for courses ... some of us like this approach as it fits the tracktion 'ethos' ... some of us dont like it as it appears 'unprofessional' ...

C'mon, it would have done no harm to T's 'ethos' to update the website once in a while.

Bollocks! I never heard of that software, but from your own post:

- Tracktion 2 has not been delayed by "months" but so far only by a few hours.

I was referring to the communication aspect, and the fact that a fiercely loyal user base was left uninformed in both cases. I came on board with T just at the time T2 was being announced, and the similarities between that and the LW8 announcement and subsequent lack of communication from its publishers certainly bear resemblance to each other. I feel a bit less so since I read Beno's comments quoted earlier, but I stand by my original comparison.

And as to life-cycle, nor had Lightwave 7 necessarily outlived its own, but we should admit that software becomes a bit "long in the tooth" after awhile. With the number of feature requests, it is likely a good time to release T2, although I personally find T1.6 very useful.

Hello all. Don't want to drag this back 6 pages or so

but I thought i'd mention that after i last posted i went out to the pub to meet some mates. You have to bear in mind the UK/US time difference, and my inate alcoholism.

The point I was trying to make was that we (the forum members) are enthusiasts. Mackie, and to a certain extent, Raw Materials, are companies. Companies have to make money, or they go out of business. We can sit here for ever talking about tracktion, what's being done right or wrong, and the worst that might happen is that we end up tired at work tomorrow. And lets face it, there's enough of us to spot any teeny tiny mistakes that happen out there. So ...

If you're employing an external company to do your website, do you always require a content management system? Seriously? Do your products change that often? Can you justfify the outlay, so that Ron doesn't post another thread titled "When will Mackie get it together"? Can you get that past your accounts department? If you're doing it inhouse, do you trawl forums to find posts about the mistakes you've made and jump to fixing them? Can you bill those hours to someone? Or is that just stupid? Bear in mind that the company has to justify the overall expense/profit of the product to make it viable.

Did the Raw Materials (pre-mackie) website change every day when a new version came out?

What i'm getting at is that if you find typos, PM Beno. I'm sure he'll sort it. Can you not figure that out on your own?

Websites go out of date. That's what they do. Keeping them up to date costs money that could be better spent elsewhere. Anyone who thinks differently has never had to pay for it.

Erm... they've now finally changed the site. The striptease is gone and the link to T1 has been replaced by "Demo available soon"

Hmmm, on the plug-ins list the BS-1 soundfont player is now called the "Soundfont-1". I wonder why? Unless it's a special version.
