YES! I always do it, makes a huge difference. I got the 3 update, but haven't had a chance to mess with it much. I wonder if Peff trick is still worth doing.
is this because of the panning-law of a stereo channel?

When i was tryin this Peff technique i realise that sound is only louder. Nothing more. And this is logical because you have two channels at the same time. Try it yourself.

Just put one channel up and it is same as that two peff channels.

To be fair, peff never claimed it was doing anything other than an increase in loudness, due to the pan law.

Also, this technique is effectively rendered useless in 3.0, since there are now plenty of devices that can increase the gain: MClass Maximizer, Compressor, Scream4 (with Damage section disabled), and even the Malstrom can do the job.

I was a bit disappointed that you can't put a combinator within a combinator! Still the main reason I got bored with Reason was the lack of something exactly like a combinator to take the chore out of re-using multiple units, so I am pleased with the upgrade. I can't wait to see what smarter people than me come up with to share....:)

All over the boards i see "reason 3.0 has better sound quality, better phase definition etc.etc.)

Can someone confirm this? Any examples?
Just plain bullshit.
I could go on about volume and what not and the perceived quality of sound at different gain levels but I don`t have time for this.
There is an analisys on the web about the sound quality of several sampler engines. FL is among the best. Reason is not even there!
The Germinator :D

No, in Reason, the props purposely lower the sound by 3db in the stereo channels to avoid having the entire song clip when all the channels are played together. Since our ears hear different frequencies at different volumes, it makes it appear to have a different quality.

I´m not sure if that was in reason 2.0 or 2.5 that test was made, but the sampler has been fixed in 3.0 he is asking about reviews in 3.0 not 2.0 or 2.5.

And yes the overall sound is much better in 3.0 than 2.5 ;)
