will it be possible to move clips without losing it's offset to the next beat ?
what i mean : if i cut a clip just a few samples before the next (lets say) bar because it has an offbeat and later i'll move the clip to a new position, will it snap to a beat (like in T1) or will it snap leaving the offbeat intact ?? beno please or who ever knows.

Post

What i would do is slide the start of the clip (without moving the audio) to the snap point. Then move the clip and slide the start back out again.

Post

you also could change the bar number at the bottom instead of dragging it.

But i agreed, like logic, it should keep the offset.

or you can simply put an empty short midi clip between the bar start and the clip start, then drag with the two selected together
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

buhh, have you ever tried to rearange some realword recordings of a band that wasn't able to play good to a klick with one of the methodes mentioned :) even a good drummer has somtimes the kick before the bar beginns. btw what about grouping, hope this will be soon implemented (for the same reason) i'm sure t2 won't make it to any studio that makes recorings of real drums without both features. it's even hard to see if a clip was accidently moved so timing is suddenly wrong and you're searching the whole thing for the reason. or drums sounding strange, because the overheads are moved some samples and phasing happens. i used t1 a lot and it droves me nuts when it comes to drumrecordings that have to be rearranged !!!

the way energyxt handels it is great, one button to chose snap with ofset or without. simple.

That would be a cool feature but.. either idea givin above are easy quick way to deal with it so you dont get messed up timing. Give them a try.

I second the empty MIDI clip suggestion. It will do -exactly- what you hope to accomplish.

Not quite as good as built-in relative snap, but very very close and very very minimal extra steps in this particular "workaround".

what ? miniaml extra steps ? think of it on 8 drumtracks cutet to lets say 2 parts for srophe, 1-3 for refrain, some bridges and solos, some breaks and fills... but yes it's the methode i'm working with right now and believe me it's also horrible. ;)

It's easy to come up with difficult examples like that that would throw off ANY host. ;) Honestly, if you have to chop up and move around your drum beats THAT much, either a) you have an ambitious project, and the attention to detail necessary is overwhelmingly more important than the mere inconvenience of using the workaround, or b) you farked up.

Obviously relative snap is the preferred option, but let's not get silly here. ;)

this is much easier and quicker than sticking a dummy clip in (but maybe less intuitive) ...

... just dont try to move multiple clips at once with this method ...

There are many many ways of doing it, and some are better for certain situations, that's fasheezy

It doesnt hurt to send jules a short note. He might like it, and consider it for a future adding to the never ending "to do list!" If you keep the note simple, cleare, and dont ask questins!

I remember he sugested this several times, when he still was hanging aroung here.

That jorgen did it in a day doesnt neccesary meen its eazy with juce, though! :P
