What's juvenile? My name, or my argument?

Take care,

Oh please. You're going to try and tell me you don't get influenced by other peoples music? I'm afraid that borrowing ideas is a part of the creative process of learning my friend. Like it or not.
"Oh, please." Don't be so melodramatic--especially about something that I never said.

I never said that I wasn't influenced by other people's music. I just said that in the past I've taken breaks away from music, to reduce the effects of external musical influences. I never said I eliminated all external musical influences, nor did I say that I felt compelled to even attempt eliminating all external musical influences. I simply stated that I felt I had succeeded in reducing the unwanted musical influences.

Also, just in case you might have thought so, I wasn't criticizing your desire to increase the amount of external musical influences you receive. I just noted aloud that I thought it "odd" (in a mildly amusing sort of way, I forgot to mention earlier) that you had the complete opposite goal that I once had. It just seemed a bit ironic in a way, and somewhat amusing, but now the small inkling of amusement is gone now--thanks to your pathetic derision.

...Let's just say, that if you are referring to your "rebuttal" of a statement that I never even made, there is certainly no "slam dunk" there, and there's nothing cool about your attitude.

I've been recovering from bronchitis recently, and I'm just a little irritable at the moment, but I don't think I would find your comments amusing, even if I were fully rested and relaxed.

My point concerning your argument is that whether you take a break from listening to other peoples music or not, you still will be influenced subconciously by something you've heard in the past when you go to compose something.

It doesn't take a f**king genius! Hello?

hello.

Funny. I don't listen to music much and I don't really have my own style... Lack of influence maybe?

Well, I'd like to hang around and split hairs with meaningless arguments but I gotta get back to composing. I'm working on a song that sounds eerily similar to a New Order track, except it's different.

Good luck with your music. Laterz.

Can't you see that no one here has argued against that idea?

You're simply "dancing with yourself" on this particular issue.

I would say it's just as likely to be a case of not enough time passing, to settle into a distinctive style of your own. Sometimes it takes awhile to develop a distinctive style.

Also, you could actually have developed your own style, and just not realize it yet, because it simply seems so "natural" to you. That happens too.

Of course, if you're busy, then we'd rather you didnt hang around splitting hairs with your meaningless arguments. Have fun 'composing' though.

Funnily enough Im working on a track thats subconsciously influenced by yours, except that Ive never actually heard it.

With a name like DJ Shitdabed, I think you best check out www.soundclick.com/captaincecilandthebrowntrouts

There is actually a unreleased song entitled "I Shit The Bed And Forgot Her Name" that might appear there in the future. ;) You might enjoy the 'flavor' there?
