Plug-in patch weirdo

I've noticed that when I record using a synth plugin and a specific patch, nine times out of ten as soon as I play the midi clip back the plugin will choose some totally unrelated and unasked-for patch to play it with. No matter how many times I click the patch I want it will always give me something else. For example, I wanted to record a clip using a soundfont called "waterphones", using sfz (usually rock-solid). I recorded with this patch without trouble, but when I went to play the clip back it switched to "shamisen", which wasn't at all the sound I wanted, and it wouldn't let me switch back. Same thing happens with pretty-well all of my synth plugins.
Anyone know what's going on?

Most likely you've recorded a midi program change with the midi data.
Select the midi clip, select "Insert program change" fron the bottom, middle panel. Select "remove all program-changes from this clip".

Chico, you're a genius! That did the trick. I don't understand how I recorded a midi program change, but she's going like a Bondi tram now. Cheers

And thanks for your rapid response, Tingle. I tried it but it didn't work. I posted a reply to you but it's gone walkabout somewhere. Anyway, thanks again.

Most likely your controler is sending those program change messages and Tracktion is just recording them. Load up midiOX to see the midi stream and see what the controler is sending; if you want you can connect midiOX and midi yoke to filter those out, until Tracktion gets proper midi filters implemented.

I've had the program change in midi-clip problem before and thats obviously fixable. But recently i've had plugins (specifically ambience) on an audio track resetting(on loading the edit) to a preset i didn't ask for. Its not preset 0, and it always seems to be the same one, so it *seems* like a program change thing, but i can't see where its coming from (this happens even though my MIDI controller is switched off).
It's wierd since i never had this before, and its happening more and more frequently now. I have 2 or 3 edits where this happens every time i load them.
