In fact, why don't you make the GUI for MKEY be the key map editor?
Oh, and if it could remember which key map you were using last, that would be a bonus (I seem to remember having to reload the correct key map each time I loaded an MKEY. Eventually I just made the default one in the main directory how I like MKEY set up).

I can play without Thalamus, but I cannot record unless Thalamus is there.valley wrote:does it work if you remove thalamus?
I'm trying to work out why some people (myself included) don't need thalamus, and some people need to.

I've gone back and given this a try and I have found that I don't need Thalamus to record.darcyb62 wrote:I can play without Thalamus, but I cannot record unless Thalamus is there.valley wrote:does it work if you remove thalamus?

I have it set up as follows...
I have put Mkey on track 1. Output for track 1 is set to midi yoke.
I set the input on track 2 to midi yoke and pop in a VSTi (tried Crystal and EVM Grand Piano and both worked).
Hit record and started typing away and it recorded just fine.

I originally intended for the MKey client to be as lightweight and low memory as possible. Delphi components can be a little memory hungry as a lot of stuff can get compiled in that is not needed.Tingle wrote:In fact, why don't you make the GUI for MKEY be the key map editor?
I could rewrite it in JUCE, which should produce a lower overhead. In which case the key editor could be made part of the main UI, and I could add a bunch of other tools too.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

Just now got a chance to try this, and it works perfectly. Not sure why I didn't think of sending one track's output to MidiYoke, but I didn't (I already had MidiYoke installed, so no bother there).darcyb62 wrote:I have put Mkey on track 1. Output for track 1 is set to midi yoke.

Would like to not have to do this, but for Mkey's features, it's not too much of a pain.
