Thanks man, i'll be off to get this now!! :D

Just a simple question.

Does Renoise does anything that Buzz can't do ?

I don't think so, but it sure does look a lot nicer than Buzz - plus that automation lane looks kick ass!! Its only 36GBP, but I don't think I'll be buying it. I just don't really need it.

apart from the fact they're both trackers or tracker-based, there's nothing to compare. Renoise is not modular but it's tracker a f**k of a lot easier to use that Buzz'.. not the mention the million other features

Well said sir!

Also with the latest final release its rock solid, has context sensitive right-click menus etc and all sorts of great stuff.

Certainly packs a lot of punch for the money, i'm glad i have mine cos i think its the best tracker on the market.

Yes, it rocks! :band2:

But seriously, Renoise is way more intuitive to use and far more stable. There is something about Renoise that makes you instantly creative, which (for me at least) doesn't happen with Buzz. Try the demo and find out yourself.

Try the demo and find out yourself ???
Not exactly the answer I was looking for.
If that is the kind of answers you get on forums there is no meaning anymore for forums ! The goal of forums is to have opinions of other users.
I'm a musician, which means I can't spend days on testing some software, just for the sake of it or (perhaps) come to the conclusion that I allready have the equivalent.
So, I tought it was logic to ask the question and have some answers who know both of them.

I have to admit, I've always enjoyed the in-built effects in Renoise. I have absolutely no idea as to their quality, but taktik/pulsar are good coders and the effects sound very nice to my ears. There's a great selection (Bit Crusher, Shaper, etc.).

Kara,

If you had read the answer to your question you'd see that indeed an opinion was offered, that it is more intuitive and more stable than buzz.

Besides which, how the hell can you ever really know if software will suit you if you don't try it?

If i trusted the opinions of some people on this forum then i'd think that reasons subtractor synth sounded amazing. When i tried it, i thought it sounded like shit. The point is, opinions can only guide you a little, ultimately you have to try for yourself to be sure.

You want an opinion? - Renoise is the best tracker on the market, and whilst it probably can't do much that buzz can't already do, its MUCH more stable, easy to use and has features that put it way out in front of most other trackers i know, and i've tried nearly all of them.

Stuff like - record pattern or section of pattern to new sample slot, apply VST fx chain destructively to a sample, context sensitive right-click menus, very easy curve automation of any parameter on any synth or FX, great set of included FX and so on. Also can mixdown every track to a seperate file for mastering in another app, and can import MP3 samples by using a 3rd party codec.

Well, I don't see much point in comparing Buzz and Renoise in terms of features and specs, as the main difference is in the workflow. To me, Buzz is cumbersome to use while in Renoise I can get my stuff done really fast (and it's not that I get lost in modular routing, it's the way pattern data and automation is presented and edited).

Once I've tried Renoise I never came back to Buzz and that's why I wrote you to try Renoise yourself. It simply is worth a try.

that's what we all have to do.. if you can't be bothered putting in that bit of effort then don't expect it from others either

and if he had a look at the demo for just 5 minutes you would have noticed that his question doesn't make the least bit of sense

of course.. being a busy musician and all I guess 5 minutes is too much to ask
