using the samples in FL

Man, at this point Sidhu, I would just go look for a soundfont. I think I understand you confusion, and I feel for ya. The samples at that site (and most sites) are equal distance from each other, take a look at a keyboard. Now, once you get the appropriate sounds to thier corresponding keys, its just a matter of highltighting them and streaching them up to fill in the gaps. Thats Kontakts GUI for mapping, I'm sure others are similiar, but nothing from imageline (thats included in FLS) can do this AFAIK. Again, there are free samplers out there that can do this.
I'll look into the samples myself, I've downloaded them but have never had the time to go through them. Give me a few.

The soundfont bank "Proteus 2" at www.soundfont.com is quite good and only costs $15 US. It's a download.

Sht! im loosing it... copied the wrong info here.. the one i intended to had C2 as its next sample....PT wrote:C2 is not the next sample. There is an E1 and a G#1.sidhu wrote:Thank you for that!
One more question,
lets take the following example :
Name Size
Stringy\Stringy_A#3.wav 326kb
Stringy\Stringy_A2.wav 331kb
Stringy\Stringy_C#2.wav 329kb
Stringy\Stringy_C1.wav 328kb
Stringy\Stringy_C5.wav 310kb
Stringy\Stringy_D3.wav 328kb
Stringy\Stringy_D4.wav 313kb
Stringy\Stringy_E1.wav 329kb
Stringy\Stringy_F#2.wav 330kb
Stringy\Stringy_F#3.wav 329kb
Stringy\Stringy_G#1.wav 329kb
Stringy\Stringy_G4.wav 312kb
Total (12) 3.899kb
In this set of samples... we have the first sample at a root note of C1, the next is at C#2. Would this not be too much of a strech ? Would it better to also bring the C#2 sample down a bit ?
Also, is this the way that these samples are intended for use? Excuse my ignorance but so far I have only worked with samples that come premapped for some sampler or the other, at least as soundfonts.
Sample fusion sells these sample CD's at a cost, withought any mapping information ? I was expecting all these banks to have a file which would automap them in FL...
Sidhu
The number after the letter is the octave of the sample.
You would use the C1, E1, and G#1 to map out the first octave.
Then the C#2, F#2, and A2 to map out the next octave.

And, should i think about purchasing a sampler ? or are there good enough ones who would do the job for free, including Cyber Free ?

You should map them up and down. The D# can be used for D, D#, And E.
If you map to far from the samples true pitch it can start to sound bad. You can usually stretch downward a little farther than upward.
Cyberfree gives you the basic sampler features and sound good. You don't get disk streaming though. Everything has to load into Ram.
Sfz has disk streaming, but you would need to learn how to do the mapping which I don't know how to do.
No sampler will map raw samples for you as far as I know.

understood, Ill see if i can make it work. thank you. downloaded Cyberfree. A lot of ppl. say that Cyberfree does not sound as good as sfz... but i think i read that you can export to a format SFZ will understand.
thanks again

I mapped those orchestral samples just today and saw this topic.. It's not SO huge problem to map those samples yourself.. You do it like you would do in Kontakt, Vsampler or Halion. You just have to put each sample on their own channel, but in the layer channel options you can send all children to one filter group so you dont have to look millions of tracks in step sequencer. There are things I would change in FL Studio, like handling many channels at once. It's frustrating for example to copy all tracks individually to mixer track. This thing would be even so easy to fix, I think. If here're any of FL Studio team, I would have many good improvement suggestions.

I just made all of the samples available on samplefusions site from the Amped, Bass Case, Orchestral, and Touchpads into soundfonts. I don't know if JMC will release them to the public, so don't get your hopes up. But he and I both know that it's something the users want. So keep your eyes and ears open for them in the near future.

thanks buckskin... for helping us out here, and at the FL forums... The file you posted there came of good help.. I seriously hope JMC releases the SF files for the users. Dont see how it would do anything but good....
In the meantime i checked out Cyber free. Thats a neat little sampler... very convenient.. havnt mapped anything yet... but when i do, it should not be much of a hassel... thanks to all for the headup.

I think all you need to is select all the channels from the step seq. (double clik on the selector LED) and in the mixer select Link all channels->starting from this track.. done!Andy Phat wrote:There are things I would change in FL Studio, like handling many channels at once. I had another issue tonight (last noght now!). I wanted to use one of the pad samples from Dream Pads... these are single wave files so i presume you just drag it to a sample generator within FL, It streches itself accross the Keyboard and pitches accordingly.
All wave files thrown here are defaulted to a C4 root note. But many files that I came accross had a root note that was not a C. Freaked me out for a second, and I changed the root note. Worked fine.

MAN! You are right! I actually still learn new things after using it 5 years. Three hurrays for FL Studio!sidhu wrote:I think all you need to is select all the channels from the step seq. I tried using the Cyber Free sampler... i got the mapping done (quite ok) \. But o playback, everything seemed to have this metallic ring to it.. like bad streching. Tried using the T1 built in sampler, and it soundded a lot like what i think it should. I also like the fact that the T1 sampler showed the names of the keys you were mapping to... in cyber free, things tended to get too small... anything im doing wrong ?
My only issue with the T1 sampler will be that mapping things here will not let me use em anywhere else... sometimes i might want to use FL solo.
