I'm having lots of problems with Tracktion. With any vsti's, I have this problem...
1. Select a preset from my VSTi.
2. Record a track with that preset.
3. Play back track - defaults to preset 64 regardless of what I used...
Why is it doing this? Any help is very much appreciated.

I'm guessing you've recorded a program change in there (maybe your MIDI controller sends them without you realising?)
Try selecting the MIDI clip -> Insert Program Change -> Remove all prgram change messages from this clip

I'm having the same problem with my NI komplete plugs (FM7, Absynth, Pro53), using a nord electro as my controller. The plugs always go back to preset no. 72.
It's pretty annoying, I have to set a program change for the entire midi clip each time I record a midi track.
What's strange is that I never experienced similar problems on any other sequencer, it seems to me to be tracktion issue. There ought to be a midi filter which could be set to ignore all program change data.
I'm on a mac, by the way. Maybe it's platform spesific?

I was having the same problem with the NI Komplete modules you list. I solved the problem by "removing all program changes in the clip" in the insert program change button. Now I dont use my midi controller for that much, so I dont know what other negative ramifications that could have.imember wrote:I'm having the same problem with my NI komplete plugs (FM7, Absynth, Pro53), using a nord electro as my controller. Me too, very frustrating - I use Tracktion and always get a default of preset 12 with some NI products.
The other night I created a new preset in the totally gorgeous Absynth3, hit Play on tracktion, the preset jumped to preset 12 and my new preset was lost, gone forever - didn't even appear in the Edit list....

Problem solved!
Actually, my problem was with the midi input itself. When I selected the midi input box I was using (assigned to a VSTi track) i discovered that the program change was fixed to 72. I can't ever recall having fiddled with this setting, and I didn't have that problem before I installed Komplete.
You should check your midi input setting too pete.
BTW, why would anybody fix a midi input (regardless of the track it's assigned to) to a spesific program change?
