Right now I have downloaded or obtained a copy from each company and gotta tell you that I am leaning toward the Traction side The is probably based on the fact that I was making some sounds with it faster, I like the idea of an upgrade path, the amount of information on this site and I like the look of the program I appreciate the help and all of the comments. I am still looking at all of the programs but I am leaning toward the tracktion camp.
Just to some up the modularity arguement for you: one bloke is saying Cubase is as flexible as Tracktion.. everyone else is laughing at him! :hihi:

Now go and have some fun making music (instead of reading a Cubase manual)

;)
just to sum up platinumers is a self confessed smug twat who is talking sh.....

i said the example could be done in cubase (and it can) but I also said it would be neither pretty or easy - hardly means it as flexible as traktion

I also said I don't work like that (you build synths I'll make music - or go down the pub or whatever) so that feature interests me (and many others i suspect) about ........

but anway back to features

how do you get tracktion's timing to follow the subtle timing differences in a 5 minute peice of guitar playing ?
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

HI

I could throw in my thoughts BUT I have been slapped on the wrists far too often by 'Jens' in relation to my misguided thoughts on XT (which I own)!

Cakewalk's Sonar is the only host I have never managed to get anywhere with - but then again it all takes time to get your head around - I think Tracktion is 'the one' - for ultra easy transition from another host - it just falls into place so quickly (saying that I got held up on my first serious foray into it by the allocation of a midi controller, I couldn't work out how or what to click on to change prefrences!).

I just want to see T2 and (hopefully) enhanced midi-editing, I will continue to use XT within whatever host I do use though!

Flipper.

You will read a lot of positive comments on Tracktion on KVR
That's because there are so many cheapskates around here :hihi:
Eating beans on toast when they should be eating cake. :P
i earn my living with Cubase VST. I chose not to "upgrade" to SX after discovering Tracktion.

Slice it into bars, and use the auto-tempo feature. I've not tried it mind you, I can actually play in time to a metronome! :P

Post

so you have to make over a hundred slices (well unless its got a very low bpm) - enjoy

3 in cubase - actually probably nearer 5 but still

PS do you undersatnd why you need this - or is your timing so utterly perfect that all those tempo based effects stick in time ?

Not really a problem in Tracktion.

My timing is good enough not to have to slice a take a hundred times just to get it acceptably tight. If yours isn't I would suggest practising with a metronome.. :P

Post

i said a 5 minute peice - 100 bars - so making your 100 bar sized slices is quick and easy - or you just cant say youre wrong ?

i would suggest learning to read

Sonar is nice but cpu hungry & midi timing not so solid

Tracktion is for the man who knows what he wants from life

energyXT is for the wise one who knows what life wants from him
Good call! i have used XT & it seems to do every thing!

but my work flow is crushed in it :(

i think ill just stick to getting wot i want from life not wot life wants from me

Suck my dick bitch, you won't get paid! :hihi:

What you don't realise is I had to slice those takes into individual beats and quantise them to get it right. I rendered the result so it looked like I could play. Fortunately, doing this in Tracktion was a simple job which only took a minute or two. ;)

:nutter: now you have yourself completely outed as the real Clueless - no use in discussing any further with you - I guess you don't know much more about music production than my grad-ma
