Interesting export issue.

Not sure if this is an issue or not, but it's kinda interesting. Last night I wanted to layoff a rough mix to listen to this weekend. I selected Export > Create Audio File. I hit OK and watched the progress bar. It crawled along MUCH slower than I seemed to remember. I figured that I had probably ticked Render at 1x by accident so I canceled. It wasn't checked, but Remove Silence was also unchecked (usually I export with that on -- so I rechecked that). Hit OK and the export still crawled along. Then I noticed that Voxengo Span (which I had in the master Filter section and locked) was displaying the song's wave form as if it was playing at 1x. I canceled, removed the plugin and tried again. Same result. Finally I just said screw it and let it go. It exported fine, but now I'm curious.
Do filters in the master section (TackyBrowser was also in the master Filter section) slow down exporting/rendering or is it something in my edit? (I am using Sophia which is a pretty good resource hog ~40% CPU.)

When that happens to me I usually find it's because the virus scanner is busy doing its little thing. Might be worth doing the ol' Ctrl+Alt+Del thing next time to see if something similar is happening.

Yeah I know that's a reason to render at 1x, but I wasn't. No Virus Scan, I do manual scans only.

the render rate is entirely dependent on your cpu.
If you have a plug that is using aout 40% of your cpu then the maximum render rate is only going to be a little over 2x.
If on top of that you have a handful of other plugs so that your cpu usage at 1x is actually nearer 60%, your render is going to pretty much happen at 1x irrespective of the render rate setting.

Ah ha! So it was the Sophia synth track. I was thrown off because the Voxengo Span (spectral analyzer) was locked on my second monitor and seemed to be showing the song "playing" at 1x. Thanks for clearing it up Valley. Anyhow, like I said, it wasn't a problem; exporting was taking longer than usual but I've just gotten in to softsynths and this was the first song I exported using one. Thanks all...
