I don't think that's good for your head, dude. :P
Anyway, if there was never a Mackie deal, would he have stopped development?
quite possibly not ... but it may well have ended up having to be as a sideline to a 9-to-5 ...

... this is all mere speculation of course ... mackie IS in the picture now and we got to deal with that whether we like it or not ...

(there ARE other sequencers you know ??? )

Yep, mental masturbation.

Honestly, who gives a rat's ass when T2 comes out? It will come out WHEN it comes out!

I don't know why people expect something, they set a date or time in their mind and they seem to expect a product to arrive around that time, I can't understand the psychology behind this stupidity. The fact is that things can change. T2 may be released some time in April, but it could be May or June. Who really cares? Use T1 until T2 comes out.

Not exactly, I also got a big bug (the inability to offline render audio clips set to higher-than-normal playback speed).. and it looks like i'll _have_ to upgrade to t2 to achieve the expected behaviour t1 should have managed (there were no responses to my question of whether t1 bugs would be fixed after the release of t2).

HI

Where do these funky flights of fantasy emanate from!!!

I hate using analogies but how about this one - I arrive at a train station to get a train, now I know that trains are scheduled to run every so often - so when a train does not come after 10 minutes I go ask at the ticket office if there is a problem (get it?) - at the very least I expect to get an explanation, no?

Now if I stand on the platform with several hundered commuters shouting "I don't give a flying F... if a train arrives or not - I can walk to my destination" the response will probably be - "GO WALK ALREADY!".

My point being - why is it for every post that asks for some concrete information - there is a counter punch by some so called "I am happy with what I got" user?

If your happy with what you have, GREAT - go use it and stop harrasing others that are not getting the level of nirvana that you are getting.

Does it not occur to you though that for whatever reason, the person asking for information or some (not unreasonable IMO) more tangable clue as to the situation is here actively using a forum for it's intended purpose - for the sharing of information.

I am quite happy either way, but I do find things to be the opposite of what many here would have you believe - there is a highly controlling and dictatorial element at play here and why on earth they don't let people just get on with their use of the forum is beyond me.

If Mackie or whoever want to operate on cryptic clue giving (Read Beno's comments re: going on holiday and missing a very important day in the T2 calander) then great, I hope people who are concerned caught on
and are now resting easy in the knowledge that they will have 'THEIR NIRVANA' in the next 2 weeks - why this had to come out like this is farcical - if you ask me, but as always - who am I to question my peers?

Happy hunting, campers.

i hope beno in his absence will forgive me if im selling him short but it my understanding that he REALLY doesnt know a firm date and that the 'might miss an important T2 date while im on holiday' post was AS MUCH AS HE COULD OFFICIALLY SAY while still trying to be as informative as hes allowed to be ...

(please also understand that neither i nor any of the other testers have any concrete information so please dont take this post as signifying anything 'official' about the release)

Not to stir the pot, but his statement also implies that he might *not* miss the release date! (meaning it may be more than 2 weeks). I agree with pHz, Beno probably doesn't know the "official" release date. If he does, then he's a great actor.

I'm the customer, and it's my money mackie want's to have. it maybe politics or tactic or what ever but it's not a good behavior. just thinking of the new users tracktion can get would be bad marketing. so i hope this all isn't true. :x :x  :tantrum: :(

It could be very annoying. Although it doesn't make much difference to me, if i was waiting on a particular feature, then this would piss me off. Why don't they just tell us every few days, sorry for the delay, this is what is going on. I can't see a problem with that. What other companies are this secretive about a release?

I don't get it. You have higher-than normal playback speed files? That you recorded presumably in another machine (because Tracktion doesn't record such files). So basically you have a speedy audio file and you think Tracktion should be able to easily handle it? Why is this a major bug? Even if other sequencers CAN handle it, that doesn't mean that Tracktion is bugged if it can't. Nowhere has it said for Tracktion or any other sequencer that you're promised compatibility with your Portastudio.

And what makes you think T2 will be able to do it? I don't imagine Jules will suddenly add a "playback at half speed" option to the menu....

So I guess, first I'm not sure I got it right what you're trying to do (import files from a 4-tracker); second, I'm boggled that you would say that it's a major "bug" that Tracktion can't handle it.

I transferred a whole batch of songs from MY Portastudio. I recorded them in realtime with the proper playback speed selected. In fact, in never even occurred to me to play them back half-speed (even though they were recorded at 2:1). It seemed logical to me to record them at the speed at which they sounded right.

I think he's talking about pitching audio clips Greg.. ;)

AFAIR rendering these clips works fine so long as the pitch offset is an octave or less..? In which case: pitch them an octave, render, then pitch them again by the desired amount - 1 octave. Hardly a show-stopper is it?

Only someone who's used to incredibly stable software would describe this bug as major!

Post

I still suspect that he's referring to something that's pitched because its time domain has been stretched... but in any case, I can't see how it's a major 'bug' in Tracktion.
