Create track default audio out question

Did you know that when you create a new track (ctr-t) it gets routed to default audio out (as expected) unless you select a track that is below a grouped track and then create a new track. The new track will be routed to the same output as the nearest group track (ie another track) and not the default audio out.

This may sound a little complex but try making new tracks at various places in an edit (which has some group tracks in) and observe their outputs.

I've had several edits get very confusing because of this feature. When I create a new track I always expect it to output to the default audio out.

Can anyone beta testing T2 confirm whether this is changed or not? (it seems like a bug).

I wouldn't call it a bug, definitely a feature!

Seriously though, the way I see it is T is trying to be helpful: AFAIK if a track is selected when you create a new track, the new track will have the same routing. If you hit <cntrl>D before you hit <cntrl>T the new track seems to have whatever assignment most other tracks have in the edit. ie: a new blank edit will result in a new track routed to default audio out, but if you re-route all the tracks in the edit first, the new track will have that routing instead.. I may be slightly wrong in the details, but surely its not too hard (and generally good practise anyway) to double-check the routing for each new track when you create it?

Yeah. It might be nice if it were optional, but it isn't a bug.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

Well, its fooled me on a number of occasions recently. Now I've understood that it's a potential head scratcher I will take more care.

But I'd still not like to have to think about it. My preference:

Create a new track with default audio out. stops the confusion.
