T2 Wish List

I know, I know, who the heck am I (so newbie I don't even own T1 :-o ) making requests, but.....

I found the Makie/T2 teaser site; eveything looks great. I could seriously commit to T2, I just hope that:

There's support for the patch lists of various synths. (Wondering if Controller Mapping might "be that"??? doubt it)

And event movement via bar:beat:tick or SMPTE HH:MM:SS:FR...either would be nice.

Its entirely possible that event movement may exist in T1, but I sure couldn't find it. I bring this up because somebody posted a "Nudge MIDI Event" thread & got the old standby response: "Maybe in T2"...

I figured out how to put a CC (and Program) message in T1 to send the data to my synth, but I got it stuck in the middle of an existing clip, and I couldn't delete it, and I couldn't move it out. Everything I did effected the entire clip. I guess the idea is to make a NEW clip BEFORE the song and put the CC/PGM events in it.....of course, I wouldn't need to figure that out if they'd allow me a list of the patches in my synths....oops,I've started repeating myself

Hi FoxV....saw your "welcome" on the other thread late.

did you try makeing a new midi clip & copying only the midi notes to the new midi clip?

:?:

Oh Yea & WELCOME!! :)

Well, no  ...but I will now. Didn't occur to me, but given 3 months and no other sequencer I'd probably have arrived at that solution out of necessity :D
Thanks

So, you think there's any hope for my 2 feature requests showing up in T2?

Controller mapping is for using MIDI controllers such as a Mod wheel to control VST parameters or the level pan.

Patch managing is not a feature, AFAIK.

You mean nudge? For clips or notes? I never really saw the point behind nudge as it fundamentally no quicker to use than a simple move operation. Either way, much of this stuff is a little smoother in T2 than T1.

User error. ;)

CC editing works, even in T1, but it can be a little fiddly.

Program changes are limited to clip starts, but you can hand enter the midi CCs to excute a program change.

"managing" overstates my request...I just want the list of my synth's patches available for track assignment. Sounds like thats not gonna be available. :(
AFAIK
whats that?

Every note, Pgm, CC, etc is an event. I'd like to see all the events in a track (or better yet, a clip) and be able to change the "time" that they fire.

I don't necessarily want to nudge the whole clip, but that would be nice too.

So can you move one note 1 tick forward, say, in a clip of many notes without moving the whole clip?..in T1 or T2? If so, how?
User error.

Heh heh....Shocking!

Hand enter...sounds like something I'd like to have explained to me :help:

Thanks for the response

AFAIK = "As Far As I Know". Well. AFAIK at least.

Valley does that all the time, you'll get used to it.

I'm not sure if I really understood the question... :?

if you want to move single notes you just grab them in the editor (piano-roll) and move them - if you want to move them just a tiny bit you then of course need to turn snapping off. And when you press t on your keyboard the grid/time-display changes from bars/beats to sec/min...

Perhaps what Jazaddict is after is a command that allows the user to shift a selected clip by a specified amount, say 20 seconds, without having to drag and watch the little counter which appears.

I would add that for editing purposes the increments when using command arrow for nudging with snapping off are bigger than I would prefer - I have to zoom in then scoot then zoom out for almost every edit.

Perhaps there should be a fine nudge key say option arrow or...

I CANT believe that wont be in T2. (Although I cant believe its not in T1 either.) That is LAME, it's in every program that costs over $20. To have to select GM names or whatever when you're using a **real** synth is embarrassing for a sequencer that even HAS midi.

you can edit the numbers in that "little counter which appears"

if i want to move the first note 1 tick i click the note & chainge the end box 1 tick!

that way there is no need to turn snap off aswell!

:D

well I'll be damned. Yet another well thought out solution directly in front of my face. Thanks.

A manual will be pleasant though!

I think JazAddict is asking for an Event editor like you find in conventional software sequencers. This seems to be absent in T1 (and probably won't be in T2 either??).

Real synths don't have patch names. They have numbers ... real REAL synths don't even have patches ;)

OTOH, I never bother to name my patches anyway. I wouldn't call it "lame" just for not being able to browse some preset names.

Yeah - I guess an analog "wired up" synth doesnt have patches :P , but seriously - Id even settle for NUMBERS just ditch the stupid GM built-in names. Just give me access to the text file and I'll edit it myself.

And yes - it is lame... :hihi:

Anyway - it certainly wont stop me from being first in line for the update! 8)
