Hello, I am having a problem with volume being too low when recording a new track. I can hear the other tracks, but track I am currently recording in Traction seems to loose volume . But, when I play it back it has plenty of volume. Any way to get a better monitor level of current track being recorded. Any help appreciated!

witch soundcard do you use? & how do you monitor your tracks? is it through tracktion? or before tracktion?

Post

I am using an Echo Layla 3G soundcard. I am monitoring by-stereo output from traction- to mixer- to active monitor speakers.

hi petelab, as far as i can tell your soundcard supports live monitoring witch is the way most do it, also this way will have no delay atall! & give you full inderpendent controll over your monitored input

havent used your sound card so im not shore how to set it up to monitor your live input, but if you cant find out how to do this try starting a new post,

if none of this is helpfull to you then sorry!

its just how i would do it!!

:D

If you are monitoring through Tracktion, you should be able to simply use the Vol / Pan filter for that track..

but then there should't be a level mismatch. That there is makes me think that direct monitoring is actually enabled somewhere in the OP's setup.

Thanks for all the replys. I have tried the volume/ pan filter in tracks, but this doesn't seem to help. How does everyone else monitor. Before traction??

I let Tracktion monitor, if the latency is good then it works out ok. Feedback of the input is ok for volume. I use an Edirol UA25 and RME multiface. Both of these offer zero latency monitoring but I can't be bothered with this. (note-to-self: must try this one day)

Does the Layla have a mixer? You should try routing the input to the main output. I have the Audiophile 24/96 set up so, and it works great. Tracktion records the input, and the soundcard mixes the recorded input with the main output, with all the other tracks.

Yes, the Layla has a mixer. I have the inputs routed to the main output.

well unless the input feed to the moniter out is muted then thats where you are hearing yr input from!!

if you click end 2 end in the propities for that input then the volume controll for that track will work!!

but it will be at the same delay that you set the buffer in tracktion to!

& you might find that its phazing intill you mute the moniter input from your soundcard

hope this helps & good luck
