Just wondering what stuff makes you frenzied about T2?
For me its to see how my tascamus428 runs on it, as well as the midi editing. Im excited also about the resizable windows etc. Just can't wait!

Unfortunately, the things Live4 does best T2 doesn't do. Unless you don't use timestretching in Live4, which would be odd.lightshy wrote:i want to ditch live 4 and there are pretty big shoes to fill (is there even such an expression?) i'm hopin t2 can do it, cuz t1.6 hasn't.

However, alot of the things T does, Live 4 can't do. I'd say it depends on what you're doing, but how Live 4 got better reviews than T2, I'll never understand. There's so much that as a sequencer Live can't do. Great app, but really totally different.

Yeah, but if you are used to being able to work with audio like in Live4, T2 may feel a bit limiting. Being that is probably the biggest reason anyone bought Live, it would be a 'downgrade' in that regard.koolkeys wrote:However, alot of the things T does, Live 4 can't do. Just out of curiosity, what are the things (besides freeze and render) that T does Live can't do? This isn't a challenge, I could use the info.

Live4 is a strange and limiting beast. Some people find they are freed by it, but I can't get on with it at all.
Does Live have audio loop recording? sample-accurate editing of waveforms in a nice big window? per-clip effects? What's the automation like? Let's say you want a clip to come in 5ms early compared to the measure... easily done? When I tried, everything wanted to be 'quantized' and tidy. I don't like that. I want everything to be organic, and I found that tricky with Live. The -performance- of stuff seemed more 'organic' because you can do a bunch of nifty things on the fly. But composition seemed very... cold....
I don't ask those to be snarky, just because I don't know anything about Live beyond the demo that I just hated.

You can easily record audio into self contained loops, though not like T2 where it is like a multi-take thing. No Sample-accurate waveform editing, but you can zoom down really close and edit the gain near the sample level. The window can be however large you want. Automation is per track or per clip, whatever you want to do. It is quite good, actually the easiest I've used. Everything can be automated. You can enable/disable quantization just like any other sequencer and slip tracks in slight fractions, no problem.Lunch Money wrote:Live4 is a strange and limiting beast. I find the composition to be more organic than anything else I've tried as well. Some people don't like the midi editor but I find it easy to use. Writing drum patterns is really nice.
I think a lot of people start using the session view and thing that's what Live does best, but I mostly use the arrange view and only use the session view to compose snippets to drag to arrange later. For composition Live is really slick. The downside is really no freeze and high CPU use. Other than that it is great. I don't feel limited except for the CPU really.

No per-clip effects but easy automation to almost do the same thing.

I'll get excited when I see a demo and hear good reports from the user-base, but not before.

Hi gang,
For me:
1) Loop recording, or 'takes' in audio and MIDI
2) Better MIDI editing (although I'm not sure the pop stuff I write requires it, as I've been able to accomplish most things just fine with 1.6)
3) User-editable color schemes, because I'm a moody, shallow, aesthetics-obsessed bastard
4) The excitement of trying to locate the 'more than 100 new features and updates' that haven't been disclosed already

What he said and I'm looking forward to a FULL version of RMIV (hopefully), been using the demo lately and really like it. Some of the other freebies might be interesting too they havn't listed them all yet so hopefully some surprises.RCcola wrote:Hi gang,
