Does Live have audio loop recording? sample-accurate editing of waveforms in a nice big window?
sure, unlike T1 it offers both! ;-)

oh, and even Live 1's automation was far better than T1's...

Whats so bad about T1's automation?

serious question?

tbh i'm not quite sure if it makes much sense to answer it as I think T2's automation will be much improved... :-)

Of course!

It didn't move when space was inserted into tracks, and there was no way to move multiple nodes together. Anything else?

I'm excited about getting the damn thing, because it will stop me coming to this forum every day to check...

Hows about we all make a pact to say NOTHING after it comes out - until we can post our first T2 'demo tune'?

the automation in Live is about the best thing about it - not only that every twiddle you do in the session view can be recorded and deposited into the arrange view - the order of clips can even be improvised etc etc.

The drag about it is that it is entirely based on the idea of repeating / cycling pieces - awesome if you are writing say gamelan music...

I guess my gripe is that it really prescribes not just a workflow but a musical style! I write music that is linear - and unless I'm being paid, without repetition of any kind - tempo and meter are fluid so I have no use for the session view at all.

The arrange view just seems kind of like Tracktion lite...

That said the little GRM-style parameter pad is way cool...

Jens, king of hyperbole. ;) Quit trolling our forum!!!

:hihi:

Tracktion's automation is sweet... spline-based curves would make it better, but.. meh.

If you can't zoom right in on a waveform in T, you've been hitting the smack. I vaguely remember the 'sample accurate' discussion... and saying that you can't edit that accurately is really splitting hairs.

Didn't realize Live would allow me to record a 12-bar solo a dozen times and then comp a solo from them, though. That's kind of neat. I just see Live as so pattern-centric, which drives me berzerk.

indeed - loads of thb...

- it doesn't move when you move the clip it belongs to and you have to select and cut and paste each envelope separately if you want to move them (i.e. you can't lock them to a clip and you can't move more than one envelope at once)

- you can only read the values when you're moving the nodes

- you have to move the nodes by a huge amount before T reacts

- there is no support for curves

- you can't easily assign an envelope you have drawn to a different parameter

- you can't easily assign an envelope you have drawn to an additional parameter

:o I never wrote that you can't zoom in on a waveform in T - that would be a hilarious statement! ;-)

If you think Live is 'pattern-centric' that probably means you've never discovered it's arrange modus! ;-)

T's current automation is kind of a nightmare - and I'm not the only one to say this! ;-)

HI

I would agree with you (to an extent - I can think of FAR worse!) there 'Jens' about T1's automation - but then again I can't think of any host bar Logic that hit the spot for me (so far) when it comes to automation editing - I have used SXV3 quite a bit and for such an expensive piece of software I find it's automation is not as 'comfortable' to use as it should be - I like that word for describing the hand/mouse/keyboard/gui interactive experience, it's so much more refined than using the word 'f**ked-Up'!

Flipper.

I don't think Live is loop-centric, it can be if you want it to be. You can work in arrange mode only if you like. You can ignore the tempo and do something freeform. Just turn warp off by default.

If Live4's shoes are "so big", why not stay with live and make some big music?

I personally cant stand Live.
