yeah i'm wondering about that also - i got an nfr copy of T1, i've been playing with the T2 demo for a while & thought 'bugger it - i get paid today - i'll buy it' - but the link is to the T1 purchase page & the 'click here for all the details on tracktion' link redirects me to an old version of the T2 page where it still states 'demo coming soon'????

$2100 :D

OK so i dont know

Buying T1 now will still be sensible because you'll save money by upgrading and not buying T2 boxed.

Post

That is probably true - but isn't what I want to do - i'd prefer to actually be able to purchase & start using T2. I can use the T1 nfr fine as it is - why pay for the privelege of using software i'm already using, when I actually want to use the upgraded version - which will be available to purchase at an as yet unspecified date? - for all I know it wont be available online until it is also available in the stores - which is when? May or something? No offence intended etc. - just seems that the mackie site is a likkle bolloxed right now.

Post

If one must first purchase T1 online in order to purchase T2 online (rather than the boxed version) that's okay, though i'd prefer a clear official confirmation of that fact first, as well as a reliable timeframe. Basically i'm not interested in the boxed version along with it's assortment of third party goodies, which I either wouldn't use or already own.

I was wondering about pricing as well. I know the full Tracktion 2 package will cost £150 from the magazine reviews I've read but there's f*ck all about pricing on the Mackie site that I can find.

Will the upgrade be a boxed package? I was wondering if they might do a similiar thing to what Propellerheads did with Reason 3.0. i.e 2 boxed versions - The full boxed package for £299 or the boxed upgrade package for £69. both basically the same (Apart from the printed getting started manual in the full package) but you needed to be a registered Reason user to get your serial number from the Prop's for the boxed upgrade package.

Does anyone know yet? Still nothing about pricing on the Mackie site that I can find.

afaik nothing is going to be announced until it is released next month. discussions on the forum so far show that it's likely that they cannot sell it online until it has been released to the stores (after all, the stores want to be confident that they will sell the product, and if everyone's already going to have bought it online then they won't order in so much stock). it makes sense, tho it's obviously making me feel impatient :hihi:
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

I don't see why Mackie can't consider purchase online now which would allow users to unlock so they can get on with their music.

The box can then be sent from the respective distributor in the buyers area when available since all we are going to do when we get the box is unlock it anyway.

And of course the non internet people who wander around the music shops will see the boxes for T2 pay the money if it's what they like or want and be none the wiser to us lot here so I don't see how this will effect tribs sales since it's all coming from their outlets in the end anyway.

Mackie know where all us registered users live and new T2 buyers will be the same when they sign up...buy online confirm your address..orders go by email to the trib...order gets sent when it's ready.

I'm under the impression there is no choice whether you want the plugs or not which is entirely reasonable because the whole T2 package is so cost effective anyway and superb value for money.

With sample libraries and plugs that might come to a few gigs this is fair enough necessitating a hard version. But why should that get in the way of convenience?

Seems we are going backwards when both ways combined can be utilised to benefit everyone. :hihi:

All this technology  ....where's the dynamically updated relational database that logs everyone with their purchases and their nearest trib if it is all going to boxes and hard ordering with major releases.

Unless there are other specific reasons hindering/preventing Mackie from doing so right now?

Sometime in May is a long time from when the demo was released.I find it difficult to relax with T1 now that there is midi sync and hardware control and all the other goodies that work Tracktion style etc.The hissing and midi dropouts are annoying.

Or at worst for many a seasoned T1 user...the carrot for T2 is just too big....please send the Bunny in!....I/we would be most grateful if like T1 you consider an unhobbled demo for 30 days and allow us to feed our habit.

That, is an outstanding idea :!:

I've been primarily using T2 (hiss...grrr), and then switching to T1 for any rendering. I have to admit, it's difficult to go back to T1, even with the hiss.

I am thankful that at least T2 edits open in T1 with almost all (maybe all?) changes intact. That's really quite extraordinary.

One thing that was very smart and thoughtful was that when I 1st installed and opened T2 all my plugs, edits, audiocard and preferences from T1 were all setup and ready to go...at first I thought that I had mistakenly opened T1 at first although I was watching the cool new blue splash...nice move Jules...what would have been really mind blowing would be if it read the T1 key and authorised itself

Anyway from my last post I also meant to say that the price for Tracktion has been stated..is it Msrp is $199..I have seen others mention that they have pre ordered the box for $149(that is unbelievable for T2 and plugs)....so I can't figure what the difficulty is with giving an online price because people are buying it and still don't know what the full plug bundle is(what is already known and mentioned anyway is more than great value for money never mind the unconfirmed stuff)....hell charge the full $199 less the $80..the T1 users discount(is it still on?)....conservative guess $20-$30...I'd be personally happy with that.

There must be some gremlins at work re the online purchasing...Mackie give them the good ol' :box: because I'm sure you folks have been dying to get this deal closed and it's driving everyone :x

I hope they do it like Make Music software does with Finale. Every time I upgrade they send me a full version CD. This helps, and would help with Tracktion, in case we can't download the full T1 anymore. If you just have an upgrade disk, and lose T1, it's worthless. Unless they keep T1 available for download.

However, if I ever have to reinstall, I don't want to have to install T1 first, then upgrade.

And you say that the NFR works fine, and that's true. But the true advantage to buying T1 now, even though you don't "need" T1, is that you WILL most likely save money, almost certainly. Plus, even if you DON'T save money, you won't have to pay any more. So it's definately worth it to purchase now.

I'd still like to know how much it's going to be regardless of when it's due out. I don't see what the problem is with letting everyone know the price now! Future Music said £150 in the review. Not sure if that was a guess but if it's correct then when can we assume the upgrade for registered owners of T1 will be?
