How can I make a track pan back and forth (repeating)? Is there some way to do this besides the tedious method of animating the parameter by hand?

Post

Have look through the Instruments/Effect/Hosts section (<----- over there), there is a free auto panner plugin in there somewhere.

mda Roundpan- in fact download the whole mda pack.

Roundpan isn't quite an autopanner though - it tries to do a 3D pan, and so does funny things with phase that cause interesting effects when collapsed to mono.

I am on a mac.

I did not find a straight plain vanilla auto panning plug in that is free in that section.

Wish Tracktion had something like that built in. Seems like a very basic thing to do.

 Sorry, I've only ever applied it to stereo files so far. The mda plugs are worth having anyway.
One alternative for OSX is the NDCTrem, which can be set to autopan.

No need to apologise, I use it a bit myself! Just need to bear in mind that mono compatiblity could be an issue.

thanks for the suggestions. I would rather a plain panner, not in 3d because my video projects do sometimes end up in mono.

Any other suggestions?

I know on the PC there are plugins that can control parameters of the following plug-in's automatable controls. Perhaps there might be a Mac equivalent which you could then use to control the panning?

So far, found nothing. There is so much stuff out there though. I'll keep looking.
