I would really like to know exactly what the T2 people have been doing in all this time because on the basis of the demo frankly T2 is a bit of a joke if you have been waiting for it for the full however many months it has been. Maybe it's just the way I work that means most of the new features are useless for me, but I am actually really struggling to think of a single thing that makes a big difference to me, maybe the MIDI editor.

The last significant addition to T1 was rack filters - how long ago was that? Anyone who thinks that what has been done since then justifies the amount of time taken is out of their tree. There is no way this is a T2, it's a T 1.6.x release and no amount of gay strip-tease Mackie marketing can disguise that - real emperor's new clothes stuff. I didn't want to say before actually using the demo, but I suspected this would be the case from the moment the strip-tease ended, without any sign of e.g. timestretching, clip automation, folder tracks etc etc.

I have a funny feeling that for the vast majority of users there is very little reason to upgrade to T2. In fact, the biggest reason I can think of is going to be the plugins supplied with it - i.e. nothing to do with anything which has been done to Tracktion itself.

The best I can say is that if Mackie think they can charge serious money to existing users to upgrade to T 1.6.x, they are having an absolute laugh.

So far the audio loop is useful, not sure what thats worth. It may grow on me..

It makes you realise how good T1 was.

Having T2 be able to send midi time to my external synth is fantastic.

I have a Korg Z1 and T2 sees it, and can control the arpeggiator BPM. This alone is nearly worth the upgrade price for me!

Add in the quicktime support (I do a lot of video work) and it is worth the upgrade price right there. I only wish I could just buy it right now so I can use it.

I like and use

External controller mapping to any parameter on any vst
The new midi editor
Audio loop recording
Hiding the left and right sides of the interface (useful on a lappy)
Colour editor and schemes

most out of all the new features at the moment. I'm going to do a proper soundtrack to a quicktime movie soon too, which should be fun.

If you don't like it, fair enough, but there's a fair few big features in there that don't write themselves

about midi time code etc. - is that stuff needed in order to use the mackie control units etc? Just wondered as a significant portion of the (long awaited) update seems to be tied into mackie hardware type stuff - natural I suppose given that mackie are marketing it, dunno.

It's so good. Proper Tracktion-like feature, the easiest thing to do ever. And so much fun, i'd even forgotten i own a kenton spindoctor, which is now useful again

You're the second person to say that today, and it's still bollocks. I can only think of hdr import and mackie C4 support as being remotely specific to mackie hardware. 2 features out of over 100.

Yep. Part of the reason why I bought an Edirol PCR30 with all the knobs and sliders was because I was anticipating the controller mapping... so I'm stoked. That alone is enough for me. Live dub mixes coming soon....

like i said i was just wondering - i've been playing with the demo virtually all day & debating with myself about it - i'm not blown away - but it is on the whole damn nice - just that it took a bloody long time & there are still some niggles with it (e.g. not being able to move midi cc data) - it's when the basic stuff like this, that virtually every sequencer has, is missing one can't help but question the utilisation of development time & the prioritising of functions etc.

draw some midi cc data in & then try to select it & move it & you will see.

whereas the way u can now shift click & move vst/vsti automation is luverly - shame that i can't use that automation to control rewired devices.

Now you see how very damned good T1 has already been. And thank god the workflow is still the same in T2.
