T2 Demo and Mackie Control

I just installed the T2 demo and I can't tell you how happy I am that I can use my Mackie Control once again! (I used it in Cubase SX2 before).

I am very happy that my meter levels are far more accurate than in Cubase. Unity levels on the Cubase mixer would be about +3dB on the Mackie. Also, the Mackie Control actually displays a vertical meter bridge on its LED display! How cool is that? Again, this is something that never showed up on Cubase - or was even an option AFAIK.

I am a bit disappointed that the beats display is not accurate to the timing of the song. It really seems to drift. Note that the music itself stays in perfect time; it's just the numbers display. Using the T2 demo song as an example, I listened to it, tapped my foot to the beat, but the Mackie Control's beat display was erratic, speeding up and slowing down in and out of time. This also had an effect on the internal metronome in Tracktion. Thinking the recording of the demo song was out of time, I loaded one of my T1 songs in, but it still drifted. Also, the Scrub feature doesn't work. This would be a nice addition.

I have yet to try the Mackie Control with VST input/output. Time will tell...

BTW: the reference guide has details on using the MCU and C4 with Tracktion.

Wouldn't you know, I'd post something before RTFM! Thanks for the heads up Valley! It works pretty darned well right out of the "box". Better than Cubase by far, IMHO!

This is probably more of a question for Beno and Mackie, but do you think they'll make a Lexan overlay for Tracktion 2? I just tossed the one for Cubase into the drawer (never to be seen again, hopefully!)

Hmm, I answered that question befpore ypu evenm asked it, but KvR seems to be losing posts...

There will be new lexan overlays for Tracktion. It is my understanding that at least some of the graphics in the reference manual came from teh overlay design sheets.

Thanks again Valley. Most appreciated! Even with the audio noise, I don't think I can go back to T1 at this point. Having a control surface makes a BIG difference!
