T2 - a massive disappointment

gbles: that is exactly what you'll get.
When you first open it, you'll barely even notice the difference (default colour scheme aside), but after a few days, you'll try T1 and realise how much more polished T2 is. Moreover, you'll be hard pushed to describe why it feels better, the changes are that intuitive and intelligient.
There *are* needed features that are missing, but this is still a very worthy update to an already remarkable application.

Sounds great.
As far as missing features go - I think everyone will spot something missing. We all have different uses for the software. For example, I value automation clips more highly than high quality audio stretching, which I never use. However, I can live with it knowing that T is a better app (for me) than others on the market and also has a good price. I couldn't stand going back to the days of the sequencer whose name I shall not mention...

I agree. The first thing I did with T2 was swap back to the classic colour scheme (though I'm quite fond of some of the tester's designs now) and I could easily forget I was using a different app.. until I started exploring the new features! (My desk bristles with assignable knobs!)
Sure there are things I want that aren't there yet, but I am confident that Jules has his priorities straight, and that future versions (like this one) will add new possibilities without losing sight of the things that made T1 so good..

It's inevitable. Some people are just searching for something to be disappointed about. And most of them, we knew ahead of time that they would do it.
I think those who actually have the smarts to sit down with the app for more than 5 minutes will realize how refined it is, and see that there really are alot of nice additions. Some of them are small, but they are still there. Take a look through the shortcuts settings and you will find things that have been added.
Again, some people just want a reason to complain. It gets them attention. I just accept this as fact.

When you have to wait years for a handful of them, which weren't the main ones you needed, that's disappointing.pakana wrote:I can't understand how improvements can disappoint anyone

You can now toggle through plugin presets with the <> keys (or , . as they actually are).
Select a plugin as normal, click on the Tracktion surface such that the filter does not have keyboard focus, then preview presets like you always wanted.

It's not just a handful of updates. Why don't people get this? And it's never going to be everything that everybody needs. However, this is only version 2.0. It's the beginning. Beno already has a list of things to do for future versions. And knowing how Jules codes, it may not be too far off!snezhinskproject wrote:When you have to wait years for a handful of them, which weren't the main ones you needed, that's disappointing.pakana wrote:I can't understand how improvements can disappoint anyone
Again, how can anybody say that there are only a few features. Oh, must have never tried programming an app like this before.

Ah! Thanks Valley. I have looked through the shortcuts, but not all of them. I missed that one! Very useful!valley wrote:You can now toggle through plugin presets with the <> keys (or , . as they actually are).

but not usefull at all. so you telling me you love it to find all tracks in the arrangement that are routet to a grouptrack or have auxsends to a track, click on every solobutton of the track, just to hear the mixbalance they have in the reverb that's placed in the track where they are routed to. arrg, that might be the reason why we have it that way, you simply say "i love it" but you don't use it often i bet.valley wrote:mute/solos that behave logically!

I agree with those that said there is always bound to be disappointment. Sorry to see you go aldi (and any others). In any case, if anyone frequented this forum with any regularity, it was made pretty clear that automation clips, folder tracks and ghost clips where not part of T2... so I'm not exactly sure why this is this a surprise all of a sudden. Beyond that, I think after playing around with it for a while, folks will begin to really appreciate the subtleties which ultimately make T2 pretty damn slick. I also think that the volume of showstopper bugs will be rather low (unlike alot of other releases). Jules did a wonderful job... too bad it can't address everyone's needs... but such is life.
