I'm getting many of my needs met by T2....here's among the last of them.

I'm using a mutitimberal synth outboard synth. I'm using the MIDIChanneliser Plugin to route tracks to channels.

When that plugin is active and I click the Insert Program change, I get a page of "UnNamed" patches. I can't find where to populate those. I see a place to import FXB files, and it looks like the next and final step.....

...I think I want to "make" and fxb file that has the various patch names, am I on the right track? How do I do this?

Post

& if there is a way will it work on vsti's? seeing as midi is midi?

maby a new request thread for modula should be started???

Post

glad you are figuring this out cause i want to do the same thing ;-)

glad you are figuring this out
I am?

Heh heh...well, I'm certainly trying. And I have OTHER THINGS TO DO...its just so addictive to ALMOST have a REALLY cool integration between MIDI and Audio.

Stay tuned.....

I think you may be able to do this with a "dummy" plug, which passes MIDI and audio, but has space for 128 patches. You could then create as many banks of 128 patch names as you like, and simply load up the dummy plug when you want to choose patch by name..

It could probably also provide a bank changer.. give me a few minutes with Synthedit, I'll see what I can come up with.

Cool...I eagerly await your new concoction, platinum! :hail:

Try this plug

Its basically just a dummy with 128 preset slots: rename each one, and then save the lot as a .fxb file. Repeat for each bank you use on your synth.

It also has a bank select option: enter the MSB & LSB values, and press the button to send the message. This means you can associate each fxb of patch names with the relevant bank, and simply press the button if needed..

I haven't tested it much though: maybe I missed something.. ;)

dood your a flipin gezza!! :D :)

You are SO the MAN

Because of my level of expertice in T2 (right below retarded) it'll take me awhile to try this.

Even if it doesn't work...and I bet it will...thanks SO MUCH for helping me (and others). :D

OK,
Now if you could just get it to import from the .ins file that cakewalk uses....or even a text file. :P

j/k

I'll type 'em. And I'll LIKE it.

When I type or select a patch name, it zero's out the MSB/LSB even when I lock it. I guess I'd to be able set the MSB/LSB and audition different patches. I envision a different patch list for any of about 6 different banks among 2 synths; clear as mud? ... but DUDE, this looks REALLY good.

Just imagine it in a RACK...that's preset to each bank. (see other thread)

Post

Ok. Try this on instead.

It's exactly the same, but the MSB / LSB values are no longer included in the presets. The disadvantage is that, when you load in a .fxb, you will need to manually set the bank..

<edit again> just to clarify: the first version allows you to link each patch name with the right bank: select a patch number, set the bank, and then name the patch. When they're all done, save the bank as a .fxb. The advantage is when you load in the .fxb file at a later date, each patch will have the correct bank select cued-up ready to be sent if needed.

If you really want a prefect solution, I suggest you download Synthedit.. I'll happily send you the .se1 source file for this plug.. you could then very easily create a different plug for each bank you use, with the relevant patch names embedded in it, and each plug having the correct bank select message cued up and ready. (SE provides patch copying functions, so you could set the MSB / LSB values for patch one, copy it to all the other slots, rename them all, and export it as a plug named after the bank.)

This should speed up your workflow, as you would just need to load up the right plug to be ready to go..

<edit> thinking about it, you would need a registered copy of Synthedit, as one of the few restrictions in evaluation mode is a fixed 16 patch slots in exported VSTs.. you will laugh when you see the price though! ;)

Funny you mention SynthEdit...I stumbled across that last night while trying to solve this. I moved on because it looked more involved than I wanted to be....and yet, here I am.

I saw your reference to it and was going to comment/ask if I should go down that road. I do a bit of programming, but I'm NOT in the position to pay an arm & a leg for the privelege of completing T2's MIDI implementation.

So....if I get the evaluation copy (gulp....here we go) and I create the thing I want, I could send the source back to you for full 128 patch compilation? Ol' buddy ol' pal?

Post

And yes, I'll take the source you started.
I think you can use the email link under my name, right?

Thanks a bunch, brotha.

 Cheeky b*gger!

If you really can't afford Synthedit's astronomical $20 USD entry fee, I might just do it out of pity!

:hihi:
