T2 - a massive disappointment

I think that sums it up best. The demo gives everyone the opportunity to finally make a decission. Complaining time is over. For those that decide to stick around, it's time to assist is weeding out any remaining bugs (edit). Feature suggestions are always welcome, but complaining that it's not covered by this release at this point is futile (this is a general statement and not directed toward anyone in particular).

I probably sit between 1 and 2.
The MIDI editor is a big enough feature by itself to make T2 a big deal for me. The lack of clip level automation, and time-stretch are things I'd very much like to see.
If T1 didn't work for me though I'd have moved on a long ago. There's a reason why I didn't.

The problem I have with those that complain is that after months of asking with the same answer, they still seemed to expect it to change. And they constantly griped that T2 was "unusable" without that ONE feature.
For instance, the first note dropped bug, can be fixed by moving the start point by as little as 1 tick. But that has been called a showstopper for some people. They go as far as saying that the program is unusable and severly broken. Not quite. It's all about perspective. Some people think that griping will change it, even after it's too late.
It just needs to come out different. We don't need 25 topics on how we want timestretch improved. They are aware and have said that it's on the list to be fixed in possibly a .1 or .2 release or something like that.
Again, it just needs to be said differently. I'm not saying that they aren't genuinly unhappy, and I feel for them. But it's pointless to go that far on everything.

Complaining that people are complaining is just as annoying IMO. Sorry koolkeys.

It just gets old when it's repeated SO MANY TIMES. I sat back for several weeks as the features were revealed and didn't say anything at all about complaining in the way I do now. But after it's gone on for so long, and T2 has now been released in a way, some people seem to think that it's helping things to gripe about the same things several times a day.
Please don't stop complaining. That's not what I'm wanting, or anyone else here. This is a forum, and that's what it's for. But it does no good to keep on going about the exact same thing. One person a couple weeks ago posted like three or four topics on the SAME SUBJECT in ONE DAY. And why? Maybe they thought that Mackie would change their plans, I don't know. But it floods the forum and those who come here for help have to weed through sixteen posts to get to theirs asking a question.
I take no offense braj to what you said. But I'm not alone here, I know it. Not everyone will agree though, and that's fine too. It's just as important as my opinion.

The demo is only part of it. I need to know how much $$$ it's gonna set me back to upgrade from T1 before I make that call. $150-80=$70 and it's possible. $200-80=$120, no freakin way.ModuLR wrote: The demo gives everyone the opportunity to finally make a decision.

i don't think anyone was seriously expecting 'big' features that didn't make it to the teaser list... but there are other possibilities for small workflow improvements that might have been included in the 128 changes. Im my case, i was still holding out hope for a 'make real copy' clip function in the edit window, for example.valley wrote:Anyone who thinks that wave editing or time stretch would not have been a headline feature is probably best avoiding a career in marketing.
of course most of us are aware of that. but the teaser list indicated 'and many more' features.. which leaves room for the imagination (even if those features might not be headline material).lunchmoney wrote:see what I mean? When you sub-divide the features, a number like 128 comes up, but I would have thought most of us would be aware of this sort of thing
A short while ago i made a list of things (changes/new features) that would really improve my workflow in T (things that are already available in other programs).
i had decided to wait till t2, and see how many items on the my 'important list' had been improved.. the idea being to change hosts if most of the stuff was missing.
None of the items on my list have been changed/improved in t2 (i had to wait for the demo to be sure of that).
meh: that's enough explaining why people can be legitimately disappointed
same. Despite the disappointment i don't think i'll switch after all.. too much hassle.valley wrote:If T1 didn't work for me though I'd have moved on a long ago.
