2.1 feature requests

I've been bouncing back and forth with T2, Logic and Live4 all day, and I thought a feature request list for T2 would be nice®, even though we only have the demo now. People have a good idea what is there now in T2 so I thought a look to the future was in order. Please no bitching about what's not in the demo, just what you would like in 2.1 and beyond.
What I'd like:
• A per-track freeze feature allowing frozen tracks to be mixed and automated ala Logic. This is really handy.
• Allow the midi editor palette to be repositioned at the bottom of the clip. It gets in my way where it is.
• Good timestretch.
• Native beatslicing.
• A mixer filter to be used in racks. Something really minimalistic (think FL5's mixer faders size-wise, maybe 6 channels). Cross-platform of course.
• A full-view button that will hide inputs, filters, and resize the current clip to be viewed full size.
• More view options for the midi editor. I don't like the current grid very much, the ability to adjust it by quantization values would be nice.
• Create send filters in all other tracks when creating a return track. Live does this and it works very nicely. Having to add a reverb filter to all tracks is a bit of a drag (pun intended).
• Integrated file browser. Live's is excellent. It seems it would fit T's design philosophy to have a 'file' icon similar to a filter that you could drag into a track, and then have a menu similar to the filter menu pop up and you select your file. Of course you should be able to preview from this menu as well.
Ok, anyway, that's a start. What do you want in 2.1?

hehe
i like this game
1. Be able to change volume (and mute/solo) and pan frozen tracks.
2. PDC in rack filters
3. Automation linked to clips as an option
4. Curve tools for Midi Controllers and Filter Automation
5. Better grid in midi editor.
6. More resolution for the pen tool in velocity editing.
7. edit velocity draggin' on actual note/group of notes while pressing 'V' or other custom key.
8. Better time-stretch / pitch shift algos
9. A tool to split/glue clips
10. A tool to split clips in multiple equal parts
11. Reverse audio clip (clip based not file based)
and a zillion more i have to still focus while i work on T2.

1.Treating audio and midi clips the same.i.e.
-Merge audio clips like midi clip.(destructivly or non-destructively)
-drop filters onto midi clips.
-Fade-in and fade-out on midi clips.
2.Folder tracks
3.Solo group tracks
4.Lock automation to clips
5.Curves on automation

One thing springs to mind: Extend the MIDI controller editor so you can edit automation parameters in a clip, too (like in Orion). Then maybe have that editor for the audio clips too.
(as to whether the track or clip automation would take precedence, i'll let someone else worry about that!)

That's not the same thing. You can't go back 2 weeks later and edit the notes on a rendered track.drlazy wrote:"• A per-track freeze feature allowing frozen tracks to be mixed and automated ala Logic. This is really handy. " - use render

I'd just like to say before people start doing this: don't post work arounds as dismissals of feature requests. Like the 'use render' comment above. Just because you can use a workaround to approximate a feature request doesn't mean that the feature wouldn't be nice to have. If you want to share a way to accomplish something someone requests, that's great, but please don't 'dis' the request itself. drlazy, I'm not saying that's what you did. I just don't want this to turn into a defense of T2 by the over-zealous. It's not an attack and doesn't need defending.

i agree with thread starter.
this is not an attack..neither a 'T2 sucks'
T2 is great improvment over T1 but some crucial thing are missing.
Jules did a great work..he can do it even greater
so a suggestion/feature request thread is a good idea to me.
In the classical 'tracking' workin enviroment maybe T2 is just enough..i feel like it lacks something in the 'composing' workin' enviroment area where the workin' path is not so linear and require a lot of editing and experimenting.
just my 2 cents.

1. Grid for audio tracks
2. Native Acid loops and rex support (with good time-stretch)
3) Groove-clips editor added (as in Sonar4)*
that'll do.
k
*make that in-line groove-clip editing.
edit: ditto for freeze update, per-clip automation + midi cc copying.

good idea for a thread, but will probably turn into a tracktion-bashing in the end. It does what its supposed to in my opinion...

1. PLEASE, please move that timeline preview box from the top left to a proper scroll bar at the bottom of the sequencer window. I just find it so unintuitive, I never use it, and when I do it just seems wierd. As a preview it fails to provide enough info and I'm often searching for a horizontal scroll at the bottom. I know you can select the timeline at the top and scroll, but I often end up hitting the purple cursor or the loop points. Just a plain simple thin horizontal scroll at the bottom please.

Well, actually, it is *exactly* the same thing. This has been covered about forty million times, and i'm amazed people still aren't capable of realising that the feature is already there. "Render and Add" the track, you get a duplicate of the track as an audio wav, mute the original track and it no longer plays. If you decide to make changes in the future unmute the original, make any changes you want and then render again. This is not a workaround, it's how it's done.braj wrote:That's not the same thing. There's no point in making feature requests for features that already exist. Try reading the manual.
