But it's really handy in Logic to be able to freeze a track, and then still pan it, raise/lower volume, mute/solo, etc, WHILE it's still frozen. It's seems that they only freeze the instruments & effetcs, while leaving all other channel info unfrozen....it really is the way freeze should work on all audio sequencers. A similar method could be implemented easily in Tracktion by allowing the audio output of a frozen track to be directed to another track....drlazy wrote:"• A per-track freeze feature allowing frozen tracks to be mixed and automated ala Logic. This is really handy. " - use render

yeah yeah, but then i come along and point out that my hd faces problems way earlier than my cpu maxing out, so i maintain that freeze should work as it does, using one file for all frozen tracks so that hd load isn't bumped up with each cpu saving. this argument goes round and round forever. jules has seen it all, he doesn't need to see any more. if he has plans to put in different types of freeze then he has plans and will do what he thinks is best. til then, we just use render and add to achieve what you want.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

ok if any body dident get it, that is here in the form of freeze its called render!!!! if you freeze its a temp space on yr cpu & hard drive intill you close the project or swap asio devices
if this is to much bother then go get logic!!##(& see if muting a channel will free up all the resorses used on that channel)
becouse i verry much doubt it's any where nere the top of the list!!
also by saving freezed files with your project you get big unkown files insted of wav's
its simple if u dont like it its tuff
well for now any way
now shut up or ill pay vally to block this thread

Totally agree.chico.co.uk wrote:Well, actually, it is *exactly* the same thing. This has been covered about forty million times, and i'm amazed people still aren't capable of realising that the feature is already there. "Render and Add" the track, you get a duplicate of the track as an audio wav, mute the original track and it no longer plays. If you decide to make changes in the future unmute the original, make any changes you want and then render again. This is not a workaround, it's how it's done.braj wrote:That's not the same thing. You can't go back 2 weeks later and edit the notes on a rendered track.drlazy wrote:"• A per-track freeze feature allowing frozen tracks to be mixed and automated ala Logic. This is really handy. There's no point in making feature requests for features that already exist. Try reading the manual.
Imagine how Logic would look like, if every feature would have it's own function.
The key of a good and slim interface is, to avoid as many functions as possible. Once the user understands the concept, he can do everything anyway and that wiht more freedom. That's why i love Tracktion, btw.

Mute/Pan/Volume has nothing to do with freezing a track in Logic. Man, what is it with the Dogma about Tracktion where people are suggesting things to make it better, and then get smacked down by folks acting like nuns with rulers - like that's not the way we do it in the "Church of Tracktion", "here try this convoluted workaround, RTFM, etc.". There's SURELY room for improvement, & even Jules would concur, I imagine. So yeah, go ahead. Lock the thread. It's become quite obvious that unless one thinks, oh yes Tracktion is 110% perfect, that opposing points of view aren't welcome, even when they're offering suggestions to make it a BETTER, yes BETTER, program. Shame really.djsubject wrote:ok if any body dident get it, that is here in the form of freeze its called render!!!! if you freeze its a temp space on yr cpu & hard drive intill you close the project or swap asio devices

read my post. it's been covered. a billion times.
if it's going to change, jules is already on it. we don't need to keep talking about the same thing when it can be done already.
and it's not a convoluted workaround. have you tried it? Render and add. it works. it does the job. it may not be perfect for your needs but it works, does the job. am i repeating myself? fancy that!
like i said, jules is aware of the issues people have with freeze. if he decides that render and add really is not simple enough to do everything people want, and that there is a reason to change the freeze (considering that he's read it a billion times already) then he's going to be working on it.
so, for the last time (in this post) stop asking for the same thing over and over again. we just argue, it goes round, and nothing happens. just get on with it.

render will give you all thease things & you can mute the orignal track, (freeing up all the resorses for that track) if you chainge the orignal edit you can re render & deleate the orignal render
you do know it renders into the project in the right place dont you???
the only problem with this is the extra screen space taken by the muted track so lets all ask for track folders
yes the option of both would be BETTER, but track folders is even BETTER still!!
if you still dont get it GOOD!

Funny the guys who say it's been discussed to death won't stop discussing it.
I'm not even mentioning what 'it' is. Let's just change the subject.
