Midi Export still a PITA?

Since the T2 demo won't allow export I can't try it, but can any beta testers comment on the issue of having to remove all filters before exporting a midi file? This was a serious pain in T1.

Post

theres an option in T2 to pass MIDI through filters when exporting.

If the midi clip is followed by a vsti, you can just disable this option when rendering. This gives you the best of both worlds. You can rednder the output of a MIDI vst plug, or you can just export your raw midi data.

Hmmm... Isn't there a button labelled the same thing in T1? It doesn't work. I have to remove all VSTi's in order to even generate a midi file.

I render MIDI all the time... apparently we don't do it the same way.

I set in and out markers, and then 'render only selected clip(s)'. Has always worked flawlessly since day one.

I think Joseph is talking about wanting to save midi tracks as midi files, not render to audio. I've tried to do the same thing, with the same results and yes, it's a pain.

I'm talking about rendering to MIDI. Instead of just selecting the track, set in and out markers, and render 'selected clip only' and 'between markers'. Once you've done it once, those radio selections stay selected so there's no extra clicking each time.

Hmmm... Never paid much attention to in and out markers. I'll try it tonight leaving the VSTi's and effects in place and see what happens.

Sorry, Lunch Money, I misunderstood you. I'll try that trick, too! By the time I've learned all these arcane mysteries of T! we'll be up to T#. Sometimes I think I'll never catch up...

I have tried your trick, but I can't export Midi with T1 :( The result is all the time a corrupted file and I can't open it with Winamp for example...

I know.. and so does Jules.

I find importing the resulting files into another sequencer generally works ok (in Cubase VST I just get some extra silence at the start of the song) but I haven't been able to create any MIDI files that play in normal media players either. :(

I'm gonna guess that means T2 as well?
