I'll definitely donate. But I'm a little concerned over filesize. Maybe you could, as probably mentioned, split it into "application"-related banks. Like I'm just looking mainly for good rock basses, but I'm sure as a composer of other styles I'd have use, but I do tend to have quite a few things loaded, and it'd be nice to have just the files used for the application, etc.
But then again, I have bought Extreme Sample Converter and could probably create my own. I'd pay a few bucks extra, though, NOT to have to do that work.

Finished the fingered bass soundfont:
http://herculeaneffort.adventuredevelop ... eddemo.mp3
As of now the demos aren't really good, but when I'm done with the bass kit, I'll put together nice demos for each articulation.
Here's a comparison between the "Bassics" and "Fingered Bass":
http://herculeaneffort.adventuredevelop ... ompare.mp3
The Bassics plays the first phrase, and then the Fingered Bass repeats it, etc.
As you can hear, the Fingered Bass is more suited towards jazz/fusion and the "finer" kinds of bass playing, whereas the Bassics is meant more for holding down steady basslines. It's mostly a tonal difference, too. In the Fingered Bass I played closer to the bridge, like you would do if you want to play fast. In the Bassics I played over the pickups.

Freaking hell, Geoff - these are amazing!
How much time did you spend to program the demos?

About half-an-hour each. The bass comparison mp3 is an excerpt from Teen Town, by Jaco Pastorius, in case you were unaware.Sascha Franck wrote:How much time did you spend to program the demos?

Nice. I would need more time using what is in my disposal.geoffkhan wrote: About half-an-hour each.

While waiting for the release ...
Geoff, will you ever plan to develop a good fretless bass soundfont?

If I can eventually afford a nice fretless bass, then sure! It's hard to find good fretless bass sounds that have that perfect "mwah" sound to them.ThePianoMan wrote:While waiting for the release ...

Hi geoffkhan
I would buy this on the strength of your Guitar font alone. That is one ripping hot FONT!

Yeah, I've had a lot of people say it sounds a lot like a jazz bass, but it's actually a precision bass (Fender). I've got amazing active pickups in it (EMGs) with some custom wiring to support two batteries rather than one (which enhances the tone). A day before the sampling I put in $50 Elixir strings (to give you an idea of price, "normal" strings are about $30), so those are the very best strings you can get.tombuur wrote:What bass is it? Sounds like a jazz bass to me.

I would not have guessed it was a P-Bass, but knowing it is I probably want it too. I already have P-Basses from Samplehead and Sonic Implant so price would be the same as those if quality is the same. Will you make it 24 bit?
