and how do u work around the lack of sample preview. or does it work for u?!

It works perfectly for me. I have no problems with sample preview or "in context" preview. If it didnt work I wouldnt use it.

Why dont you email me an edit and I'll take a look at it when I have time. Are you on the T2 demo?

I'm curious.

Will this bundled RMIV be a lite version or will it be the full version? It's hard to imagine a $149 program being "free".

You don't run into any of the bugs using FL as a VSTi? (velocity changing etc.) I know you can use it as a rewire client, but I really don't want to go that way. I like saving everything as part of a project.

I love this combo. I've had trouble getting it working in T though. What do you do to get around that fact that Slicy is not VST? In Cubase, one had to use a special dll. Again, I've not been able to get this to go in T.

SD/FD work INSIDE of DR-008. There should be a seperate file that goes into the DR-008 folder. They are working on a VST version, but it's not for a while most likely. But I think it works better inside of DR-008. After installing SD/FD check with DR-008 to see if they are listed as modules. They should be. Then load a drum kit, followed by loading SD or FD in an empty module, and choose your patterns, etc. and it will play using the kit you have selected! Really, works absolutely great in Tracktion! Let us know if you have any problems.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Not to go too off topic here, but ...
what 'file' are you speaking of that needs to go in the DR-008 folder? I am familiar with using SD/FD inside DR-008. Again, in Cubase, I remember having to 'install' a special dll. Currently, when I try to use SD/FD, inside DR-008, I can't get it to play. I get no sound and it doesn't play like it should (no indication of playing, etc.)

Thanks again.

Hi, jbaker...

I had a terrible time getting Tracktion to work with SD/FD. I purchased them shortly after I got DR-008 and I wasn't very smart at the time about installing stuff. The cure for me was to install SD/FD exactly where they wanted to go (C:\program files\MusicLab\) and then tell DR-008 where to find them on the config page (modules). After that, Tracktion still lists them on the "bad" vsts list, but they work anyway. However, you make it sound like you can actully see them in DR-008--is that right? If you can see them and load them, then something's messed up because they should play whatever kit you have loaded in DR-008. Can you play DR-008 normally (without SD/FD)?

Could you explain a bit how that works?

Post

MusicLab is independant from fxpansion (DR-008) but they developed these two tools to be used inside of DR-008. Slicey comes with a lot of drum patterns which can either play a Slicey drum kit, or mo' betta, a DR-008 kit. Fill-in is simply patterns that one would tend to use as intros, fill-ins and outros. The main advantage is they are dead simple to use and modify. DR-008 can of course work just fine without them, but they make life quite a bit simpler. There are a few more tricks they do I won't go into here, but I'm glad I got them.

If you have DR-008, I remember MusicLab has demos available, I think.
