Its MIDI machine control you need (MMC) check you have the right MIDI input set there..

Ron--I don't have your tascam but I took a look at the pdf manual just now. There is no mention there that the transport controls transmit MMC. I could be way off, but it sounds like they xmit MIDI messages, and are set to be used out of the box with Cubase. On the other hand, be sure the "MIDI input to use for this device" on the settings page is set to "<no device selected>".

I have a Novation Remote 25 that works just fine since I figured out "respond to MMC..." was under the Timcode menu (hours later!).

PS--There is no way to get Tracktion to respond to MIDI for the xport controls :(

WAIT A MINUTE. THIS SUCKS.

it works in CUBASE which i hate, and Audition which i love and own.

What the hell. the midi edit wasnt as groundbreaking as they made it sound...

now this.

Ron, I'm pretty sure SaviourNeeded is right.

I can't get my US-428 to transport control with T2 either. I noticed when playing around with midi controller mappings that the play key sends controller #22 for example. I did some googling and I think our best hope is in Tascam providing Makie Control emulation for the US-428. It has been requested here and apparently the Tascam FW-1082 already has this facility so it shouldn't be hard for Tascam to sort this out.

Kind of. I'm also out of luck with my mixer. At least the pan/faders work, and T has good mouse/kbd transport controls. It could be worse and not work at all.

Haydxn, I reckon guys with your skills are guns! I wish I was smart enough to do stuff like that :)

well i've just managed to get Tracktion to respond to a mapping that i made - mapping specific MIDI key note-ons to MMC messages, and it worked fine. C2 start, D2 stop.

i'll try and track down some info on your controllers and see if i can knock together a guide explaining how to make a customised mapping to control via MMC from any midi source.

This is awesome 8) Thanks man :D

okay, the guide i'm going to make requires MIDIOX and MIDIYOKE, and afaik they're PC only. mac users i'm sorry that i can't help you guys

but basically what it means is that with a bit of effort you can remap ANY midi message to a MMC command. you could stick little stickers onto the lowest keys of your MIDI keyboard and use that as a transport control if you wanted.. :D

it's a bit of effort to do but the 'figuring it out' has been taken care of now :hihi: so i'll hopefully get a step-by-step up later. in the meantime, if anyone does have any info on the actual midi transmitted by their controllers then that'd be handy to make a more directly useful guide; the manual i just downloaded for that tascam unit doesn't go into detail about the actual messages transmitted, which is a bit poor.

I think there are mac utilities that do this stuff. Not that I'm an expert but Midifork might be one of them.

Go mac techheads :hihi:

MidiPipe would do it I think.

cant like jules or whoever just create an "external controller" template for it? Looks modular
