"The guy that made the Mutron is working in partnership with Electro Harmonix. He says the Qtron is the closest likeness available to his circuit today"

And that is the crux of the biscuit! :D

Like I said earlier...if you want that real
chewy funky-ass Bootsyesque p-funky sound
you need a Q-Tron....there is NO plug that
comes close. And yeah, it is a colab between
Mike Biegel,(Mutron) and Mike Matthews of
Electro Harmonix....Matthews own envelope
follower the Doctor Q was pretty cool. The
Q-Tron+ does some tricks that even the original
Mutron could'nt.

Cheers.....CL

Nice plug! Havent got the Mu-tron sound yet but it looks and sounds promising :)

give this a whirl, certainly not a mutron but it's what i
use for my dynamic filtering needs.

It's a lot of fun to use. I listened to some Q-Tron samples on the Electro-Harmonix site and couldn't get anything near it, but still a fun filter.

Only plugs I could think of to get close to the Mu-tron would be some of the big multi-fx filters, like QuadFrohmage, Filterscape, or Nitro.

I tried in Audio Damage Ronin, but couldn't match the clips using TickyClav as the sound source.

Scarbee says his Vintage FX filter was modelled after the Mutron III

I use TickyClav too, it has some very funky sounds :) It has an envelope follow function/filter? which also seems to be part of the Mu-tron setup(?). Is this available as a vst-fx? I already tried some vst auto-wah's (give sort of similar effect) but none were very good.

Sorry, no, I was just thinking aloud. Some of the clips were using clav-style keys as the source, I was trying to replicate them. Should have omitted that part for the sake of clarity.

Never mind the confusion, I already found some other very usefull stuff, like the free Clav1 from Topaz, similar to Tickyclav. The dynamics-filter of this thing is also available as free vstfx :)

thats exactly what that is above.

 :hihi:

I wonder why I never tried Autofilter, I also have it in my folder... btw, my two cents are for the sonitus ultrafunk wha, too bad I can't order it from here, only full bundle.
I had the luck to find a used doctorQ for 25e and now I just plug tickyclav (w/ filtering off) in it.
otherwise I use S.Levine's clav taken from MusicTech mag.

...hi there, theo.

Have u tried the 'Clav1'(free!) from Topaz yet? It seems to have bit more 'punch', Tickyclav is a bit 'thin' now and then IMO. Its filter is also available for free download, I wonder how it compares to your doctorQ?
