Hey Haydxn,
I notice there's a pdf on Tascams site detailing the US-428 control protocol here. I suppose you sussed that out already
I have an old band buddie friend who's a programmer; I was thinking of asking him to look at this issue for me but he's PC and not Mac
Would the solution be basically the same for mac people but using midipipe instead of the PC software you mentioned?
Steve

I seriously would be annoyed to have to launch midiox every time I do this. Im almost positive theres a way to implement this. It does look modular does it not? I mean...

It's not that big a deal to have to launch MIDIOx every time you do anything; it's kinda like installing and configuring a new driver, you just add it to startup and then it's there. No effort once it's set, it just runs in the taskbar.
There's no way of doing anything within tracktion without looping the data back. i guess it might be possible to use a MIDI yoke to route data from a VST plugin to do the conversion on a track within T, but that still needs Yoke and also requires a VST that can send perfect SysEx.. which i don't think is possible. MIDIOX is a valuable tool, not a painful step to have to go thru 'every time' something happens. you just integrate it into your setup just like you would with a controller or a new USB interface.
@Steve, i'm not sure about the mac tools. i have to pop out now after writing that long guide, but i'll see if i can find out how the mac tools work. i won't be able to try anything, seeing as i don't have a mac, but i might be able to find out what tools may do the trick.
anyway, the guide's written for those brave enough to undertake it. i'm not sure how useful it will be but it's tested and it works. check the stickies area

Yeah, it would be better if it were all internal. You wouldn't have cross-platform issues either.rpc9943 wrote:cant like jules or whoever just create an "external controller" template for it? Looks modular

cool, i've found a US428 control listing on the link posted above. it seems the transport buttons transmit control change messages on channel 16. i'll try and make a map for the main keys to save some effort, but i won't have any way of checking them...

Untested US428 Transport Map
Try using this map if you have a US428 and let me know if it works; this will take the place of steps 3 and 4 in the guide, you just need to put it in the midiox program directory and apply it to the connection.

Does MMC have specific CC #s? I have a really nice app called StudioMixMap for my controller that I just need to plug the right numbers into and I should be able to get it to work right with T2.

Shouldn't it be possible to use the Mackie Control implementation within T2 to use other control sufaces? I know that the Behringer BCF2000 works in their special "Mackie Control Emulation mode". Afterall, the Mackie Control is just an advanced knob and fader box, so what it can do any box should be able to do. And let me tell you by the way that the MCU is great with Tracktion now. Control everything hands on, from mixing to every single plugin I have tried so far + transport controls.
