all that said I prefer to work in Tracktion because it doesn't make my brain hurt.
But T should be enhanced in an orderly way preserving its great ease-of use to take care of as many "deal-breakers" as possible otherwise it will die and that would be a big drag!
This pretty much sums up my feelings about Tracktion (thanks semiquaver!). There are some very powerful features that DP, Logic and the others have that, while I may not use them everyday, it's nice to know the capability is there. Unfortunately, the UI of those guys seems (to me) to be bogged down by the presence of that power. I never feel that way working in Tracktion. I want to see those features (several of the ones semi mentioned) in Tracktion, but of course, I would hope Jules can incorporate them in a way that doesn't destroy Tracktion's wonderful ease-of-use.

I love Tracktion and it's workflow(that word seems to be popping up more and more lately). But at some point, I hope we can do things like those mentioned without having to import/export stuff into some other application.

Geez...T2's not even available for purchase and I'm wishing already...

Lastly, while this program is inexpensive, one can actually pick up a 'light' version of Cubase for about £90, and truth told while harder to use, its infinetly more powerful.
:?:

care to explain? what can a light version of cubase do that T2 can't?

its all very well arguing this stuff round and round but ...

... real-world situation ... if T2 does the job for you then great ... if you NEED features it currently doesnt have (and only jules and a few mackie bods maybe KNOW what will get into 2.n no matter how much we whinge i reckon jules STILL has a very specific vision of what tracktion will become) then your time is probably better spent earning the extra cash to buy a sequencer that has those features and then learning how to access them rather than moaning at jules in this forum ...

i mean ... much as i liked FL-studio in the past (it dragged me away from T1 for a while) i dont spend ANY time over at looptalk complaining that FL5 doesnt have a scalable vector UI or integral modular environment and why hasnt gol implemented MY needs yet ...

I'll give you OMF, and surround, but by no stretch is mp3 pro.
well, mp3 doesn´t sound pro, but a function of a sequencer which is able to import/export mp3 is def. pro in terms of sending around roughmixes etc..

..I think that was what he ment..

but .mp3 f**king ADDS SILENCE TO THE FILE AND f**ks UP YOUR TIMINGS !!!

is that 'pro' ???

even though its minority ... lets stick with .ogg which doesnt ...

(although direct .flac / .ape import would be cool too)

it's not a pro requirement to import export mp3. PRO wouldn't even touch mp3 til they'd gotten a master quality mix to put up for online retail. so screw all your stupid arguments for mp3.

ogg is perfectly suitable for exchanging archives if you need compression. noone needs to have it using mp3. just stick a converter on your computer and use that to convert your final WAV to mp3. there is no point in putting mp3 support into T, because mp3 is for losers :)
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

..well, yes, a good proggie should do them all, but fact is that mp3 is the most common, or am I wrong..

I mean if I´d send some ogg files to record companies or other clients, I don´t know if they would be able to open it..
..maybe yes..AM I the old fashy one?? :hihi:

I worked in television briefly about 10 years ago. Guess what tape format the cameras used?

Betamax.

Just because the ignorant masses went with the inferior VHS format, didn't mean the pros had to aswell.. it just meant they kept a normal domestic VHS recorder in the corner of the room for the times they need to make a copy in a consumer format.

can i repeat too? there's nothing pro about mp3! :D it's just common. but we don't need T2 to have something like that. the manual even shows you how to convert to mp3 in itunes and that's free.

oh NO! i CaN'T Be BoTHeRED to Do THaT!!!

face it, when do you make an mp3? you don't need T to make mp3s. that's a stupid thing to badger for. you make an mp3 when you have a mix you want to send around. that's not something T needs to handle. why bother? why doesn't jules spend all his time making an OS so that we don't need to bother with all this stupid WINDOWS nonsense when Tracktion should have it all built in?

I'd actually like to save part of a tree and not get a box as well. This is part of what I liked about the original Tracktion - that the distribution channel didn't rely on 'hard' goods that were a waste of resources. I already have far to much crap to recycle.
