The other problem, and the reason I thought of the buttons, is that the way of entering the numbers with text isn't friendly to something that creates one long number. With buttons, it would be like color presets that you could load. But if you can figure out a way of doing something, I think it would be very useful. And though I mentioned the typing, it's not the typing that is a problem, just keeping the numbers straight. I have to write down everything from one to enter it into another. So good luck! I look forward to seeing what anyone can come up with!

but then because it's a swish autogenerator from a few base colours, you only need to pick and let it do its thang for you and THEN try it, rather than make it blind from scratch.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

what do you mean?haydxn wrote:just load it into T2
the easiest way that i can think of right now is to have a picture for each element that can be given a color in T2. the picture would have that element white and everything else transparent black. Then the 3rd party app could give a color to each of these pics and composite them to create the preview...
the problem is someone has to get all the pictures...

well, you could be brave and just build up a 'fake' screen using vector components, sortof like T does.. whatever mock-up approach gets used tho, it's a lot of effort and no mistake! perhaps just some vague shapes to give an idea. like, a rectangle for the clips, some filter-shapes shouldn't be too hard (one of each style), etc.. just vague to give an idea of the shades etc..

Ya know, I was thinking of this idea. Maybe have the color app you make do this:
After choosing the color, you could click in the first box, the one for "red" and click a button on the color thingy that would trigger a macro of key presses, such as 3CAAC9FF(RED, GREEN, BLUE, ALPHA), with a "tab" pressed between each one. That way, you wouldn't have to keep putting in each number in each box, but it would just do it for you.
I don't know if this would even work, but it's an idea.......

One problem with the single vectors; how would each one THEN actually apply itself to the actual component in Tracktion, or would it be just a prototype? Plus, you would have to layer things properly so they look right together. Just curious, thanks for thinking about trying this!

well the program would not be integrated with T, so it would have to be separate. anything it generates would just be spat out as a file to import into T2. any 'preview' features would have to be mocked up, and could literally just be some simple shapes to give a 'glasses off' overview of roughly how the colors would go together, without painstakingly recreating T's actual appearance.

I like it! So what would the steps be now? Would the tool you would be working on just output the Tracktionscheme file then? Since it seems to be based on XML, maybe it will be easier than I originally thought. PLEASE work on this. It will be great fun to get good schemes out quickly. Thanks for the neato tool!
