T2 doesn't sound as good as Nuendo?

I switched from cakewalk GTpro3, to tracktion, for one reason,... the audio quality.

I wasnt interested in learning another program, but once I heard the sound from the raw tracks, it was a pleasure to sit down for an evening and get Tracktion under my belt.

I agree with jarzynka, 'what you hear is what you get', and what I hear and get, I like.

Bells and whistles are worthless, without the all important 'Tracktion sound'

In all defense, Chuck Aingly(or however it's spelled) is one of the great engineers of our days. He's very well known here in Nashville. I'm not defending his statements, because obviously it's just his personal preference. But in Nashville, outside of ProTools, Nuendo IS the only other sequencer used in any major studio.

I still prefer Tracktion, for many reasons, but I know who the guy is, and he has done his time and proven himself, so I'll let him think whatever he wants. Fat chance that I'll ever meet him to show him what he's missing in Tracktion!

I'm just kidding about him being a tool  But you do have to wonder, check out his site. His main content states:

Thanks for stopping by Chuck Ainlay.Com,
I'm a proud endorser of these products!

Who knows what he gets from those companies that earns his endorsement.

I'm not questioning the guys credentials, just the validity of his claim. If it was made years ago when Nuendo was basically one of only a couple of tools capable of doing what it does, that would be one thing. To make that claim today though would simply show a lack of knowledge of competiting products (and I'm not just referring to Tracktion here).

This cracked my up, nice one!

I doubt anyone was discrediting him, but just wanted to share what I know about him.

Regardless, I agree that sound is the same through apps. And Tracktion is as good as anyone. My guess is that he is used to his studio compared to others. Like I said, the ONLY apps used in major studios here in Nashville are ProTools and Nuendo, so maybe it's lack of options to compare it to. But he's probably used to his room, his console(which DOES make a sound difference), and the sounds that he gets out of it. So I'd say he's giving credit to the wrong reasons. And who knows, there is probably some money involved in the deal!

I can't find where you started, eyeknow. ;) But it's encouraging good news to know that you're giving up. :D

I wouldn't worry too much about what sound engineers with 20-odd years of experience say... they have ears like bats, they hear stuff 99.9999% of the general population can't, and they're nitpicky about frequencies microphones under 1000$ won't even bother with. I really don't think that has much relevance for most people here.

i have 20 years of experience but i still say, what ever makes you feel right is good, and to much of a clean and oh so proffessional sound is boring (remember the whintney houston sound ? and i bet sting would be a lot cooler if his recordings would sound a bit more like tom waits recordings :) )

You're my kind of professional audio person :)

Agreed. But it would take a vat of liquid nitrogen to make Sting sound cool :hihi:

Here's another nice quote for y'all:

"In this business, we don't care what a program says it does, we care about how it sounds - and let me tell you, Sonar 4 sounds great. One example that I'm absolutely floored woth is the MPEX Time Scaling for correcting vocal tracks. It's as if the vocalist just nailed the take, you can't hear the processing and I couldn't find any artefacts."

T2 has definitely one of the best mixing maths today. I checked the sound on high resolution monitors (ADAM SA3) with 7000 $ converters where it was clear winner over 32 bit.
Of course if you use 200 $ sound card's converters and 200 $ monitors no chance to hear any difference.
64-bit mixing is revolutionary step, but definitely not necessary for 99% of KVR members who are in majority young and poor (it's not offense to anyone).
I can say that I prefer the sound of T2 over Magix Sequoia that is reference broadcasting software (priced 2500 $) with really good sound.
I can say that I use Tracktion 50% because of simplicity and 50% because of good sound. And I would pay for at as much as for Nuendo.

Peace.
