studio drums is SERIOUS.........very very good indeed. BTW.......if you have battery the ufo (sonic reality) will match it up........for 79 bones this is an EXCELLENT choice.Lunch Money wrote:-Sonic Reality's Acoustic Drums and Studio Drums, played on ST2LE

Is this battery 1? The reason I ask is that I am using battery 2 (with the 2.1 update of course) either in a rack with groove agent (one of course.......NO DONGLES!) or now mostly with jamstix and it's just FLAWLESS......one of the few positive surprises of late.lightshy wrote:so? i'm havin trouble with battery and i'm lookin for alternatives.
Oh, and I also (as mentioned before I think) have the sonic reality studio drums/ufo that has some real GEM sounds..........

Hi,lightshy wrote:so? i'm havin trouble with battery and i'm lookin for alternatives.
I'm working with Tracktion 1.6 and fxpansion BFD VSTi Drum-Plugin and I'm very happy with it. It's rather expensive, but if you are notlooking for a lot of different or special electronic drum sounds the results are awesome and the best I ever heard for real drum simulations. Very intuitive to use, too (fits well to tracktion
But, be careful... really high sys requirements. 768 RAM min. better 1024 or even 1,5 Gigs recommended plus (seperate) defragmented Harddrive with 7200upm min. Every sound ist multisampled in velocity & several mic positions, toms let the snare vibrate etc...
-> the largest hi-hat has 550 MB alone ... whole kit between one and two gigs what makes disk streaming necessary.
greetings
sascha

the integral sampler is a good solution for one-shot percussion or for drum sounds that dont need velocity layering ... but for anything more sophisticated youre going to need a dedicated sampler / drum machine ...Espy wrote:I'm just warming up to the idea auf using the built in sampler with drum samples and playing the whole thing on an oxygen8. Amateurish, yes, but sounds good and works really well.

pHz, what kind o music are you making..just wondering because I like making beats old school MPC style when I do hip hop and was wondering the best way to do that..I have an oxygen 8 also.
when I do live rock, and stuff like that, i use jamstix and BFD.
but for making repetitive beats that are sample based do you use multiple velocities? maybe use a drum program that plays the same same sample at slightly different vloumes..things like that? I am still getting up to speed on sampled stuff.I have been making rock for a long time.
last time I did beats I used ACId and cut and pasted the hits onto the grid..I hated that..no feel at all...I am a tapper.
