well, without doing any database stuff, just plonking them in different html pages, i've done some 'categorising' into the following groups:
vibrant, subdued, pale, dark, GUI.
some appear in more than one group where appropriate.

right ... stoopid question time now ... ive done all these schemes for the demo and now these ones but does anyone know what 'detail outline' does ???
(ive tried setting it to bizarre colours and then searching the GUI but to no avail)

When I come accross something that I don't know, I usually assign it the most obnoxious color in hopes that it will stick out at some point...but no luck thus far.

record strip (only definitely sussed this myself today TBH) ... the little temporary clip that appears on your track as you record audio ...
