already in there ...

- connect your MIDI input device to the left of your chosen track
- make sure 'loop' is lit in the transport controls area bottom-right
- select your MIDI input and use the drop-down menu in the properties panel to select 'overlay new clips containing newly recorded MIDI' (this will give you a new clip on each pass of the loop from which you can later choose the best take - if you dont want this choose one of the other options that either adds to the loop each pass or deletes at the start of each loop to create a fresh clip each time)
- hit record in the transport section and youre away ...

This is not what I ment. Sorry I wasn´t clear.
I want the clips to automute so I can play the same thing over and over and then select the best pieces from the recording. Similar to how the new audio rec works.

I've just tried this in both T1 & T2, & for some reason it always just merges the new notes?

okay it works - if the second clip is a differnet length from the first, etc.

Ok guys... I try not to be overly negative, but I'm not feeling superhappy about this matter. See, I'm off to eXT for MIDI stuff - again. The editor is better in T2 for sure, I could deal with that, but:
1. FFS, loop recording can't throw me back to the clip start! Is there a setting somewhere to change this behaviour? I'm used layering drums by playing on the existing tracks, and when I settle in to the groove I press rec. T2 won't let me, it throws me out of time instead.
2. Where are the notes? With other hosts, the MIDI data is written as you record, or at least on the second run. T draws them on the clip "manjana".
T is bloody brilliant in recording&editing audio, I have a much better feeling recording with T than eXT or Cubase, but I can't cope with the MIDI side... still
There are other minor nags, but this loop thing is a show-stopper for me. S**t.

Hmm... Is there really nothing to be done regarding my post above? Workarounds, settings?
I'm used to working with eXT->T, but wouldn't it be a dream to use only 1 app for everything. Especially now when I do more recording...
