As it is in SONAR. Very handy to see and to manage what´s going on inside a track in numbers terms...

Describe the feature. Some of us never worked with sonar.

I think Sonar's MIDI event list is similar to all the others (Cubase, Logic, etc). Even CMuzys has an event list.

In Tracktion's paradigm, I imagine this could be popped into the properties area of the screen.

Not a FR I personally need though. Can you explain how you find it useful, trs?

event lists are pretty handy. you can see all the midi data in a list, without having to scroll the screen up or down to see different types or change screen modes; so an adjacent note that's 4 octaves away is just shown on the next line, and if a CC message appears then it's there too without having to select which CC you're viewing. it's all just data, looking a bit like a spreadsheet, but it's the most direct way of editing midi if you know what you're doing.

i've occasionally found myself wanting for a MIDI event list in tracktion too. it's not for everybody, but if you know how to use it and how it can be handy, and you know a bit about direct midi data then it's, er.. sorry i didn't construct this sentence very well..

yup, event list is a good idea.
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.

I use the one in Cubase a lot: it can be extrememly useful on occassion.. eg: one of the ringtone formats we convert MIDIs into will not allow prg changes data to coincide with a note: they always have to be carefully placed in gaps between notes to avoid error messages.. which means I have to ignore Cubase's non-destructive prg change / bank select options, and place them amnually in the grid editor..

Exactly, very usefull for all of that. Bear in mind that otherwise some MIDI data is literally invisible. Where in the track are cc and pc messages hidden ... etc....

This is a good FR. It's been standard on sequencers for a long time (maybe because the first sequencers weren't GUI based!). Midi data could be displayed in the properties pane. A handful of tick boxes would let you filter by message type--sysex, system, real-time, note, cc, etc.

Hi all - just found this thread after someone on the Mackie forum pointed me towards it. I started a separate thread on the same topic a few days ago, link:

Seems I'm not the only one wishing for an editable MIDI event list. :)

Here's hoping.

HI

I agree that this is a usefull tool for looking at and editing midi - yea it can be done another way but its all about giving people options - as long as the options don't get in your way - I don't use video so that aspect of T2 is useless to me, I don't have a problem with it as long as it doesn't effect my use of the program.

I find the list good for looking at note length and position and making edits to events that might be more time consuming via a clip.

An example is correcting the start, length and volume of an individual midi event - in the normal midi view this would probably take longer or be more fiddly - I use to work a lot in the event editor when I was on Logic - it was a comfortable place to work!

Flipper.
