I still get the "rushed first notes" problem with DirectSound and the Drop fix filter. It's not flat out a dropped note, but the first 2-3 notes play like a mess.

If there's another thread started about dropped first-notes, i suggest we completely ignore it.

And then ban the thread-starter! :x

Definitely lots of people have sex on Fridays. Or so I'm told... :hihi:

Anyways, your tool is a 100% fix here it seems :D . Thanks mod!

Can't this be added (inivisibly) to the main Tracktion code if you liaise with Jules over it?

Regarding the seperate Rewire bug, please can you report your findings back to Jules so that he can give it some attention?

It's great that you managed to fix this thing in less than a day (when fools like me have been moaning about it for so long!) You provide a compelling arguement for Mackie taking on a second pair of hands to help Jules get the job done  .

Cheers, mod.

ModuLR wrote:that's how it came to my attention as well... I was like, what the hell is this? Looked up the #'s and was like "ohhh". Still dunno why it's mishandled by so many VSTs. Does it get the delta times wrong or what? The allnotesoff has usually got a delta of 0, while the notes come afterwards.. but for whatever reason it cuts the starting note anyway. Weirdo plugins...
I wonder if this is related - using Polyiblit, I would often get a hanging note on stopping a sequence. If it's getting the times wrong for notes compared to controller data then this starts to make sense.

Oh, and good detective work Mr Mod!

It's Saturday morning, this is the first time I've even read your latest post. :drunk:

Thanks for knocking up this little VST, seems to have worked a treat for a most people. However, still getting that problem with loop mode.

Basically, if you record in loop mode, and any notes start at the first marker (on ANY track) they won't be played. This isn't really a massive problem, at worst it will be a chord or perhaps an ambient pad or something that starts at that point. It won't mess up sequences etc.

If you PLAY a loop, first notes are fine on all tracks. If you RECORD a loop, first notes don't play.

Perhaps in this instance it's the markers oor something.

Anyway, time for the full English breakfast...

I've just tried the drop fix vst and it hasn't solved the problem for me. I still get a dropped first note on tracks which normally play back fine, but when I'm recording to other tracks (NOT in loop mode) the note is dropped.

The badly coded VST I'm using is ... the Tracktion sampler :-o :hihi:

By the way, I should say that this doesn't actually bother me as I always start a song on Bar 3 and use the first 2 bars as a count in, so its only the first beat of my count in which is lost, but I thought that you (and Jules) might be interested.

I really appreciate the work you are putting in to this as well, I've been lurking around here for a while and just recently the atmosphere seems to have improved a bit, which, I think, is thanks to the work that you, Haydxn and others are doing.

I'll 2nd that

:!:

yeah - atmosphere has definately improved, I lurked a lot - but didn't bother posting when all that groundhogging shite going on. & I agree that the mods & 'experienced' guys here do an absolutely sterling job - top community.

Obviously this isn't directed at Mac users, eh?

Post

Yes, the forum has become a largely sane place again now that the hoaxes and groundhogging are over. I think that having more mods has definitely helpd too... plus the T2 demo of course!!

The one thing that can be a pain though is that when you post a genuine question or bug report, some people have become very defensive because of the bad attitudes in the past. That's obviously a shame, especially as NOW is the best time to sort out any issues that the demo has alerted users to.
Congrats to the mods for trying where possible to do just that and get things sorted.

Post

To people who are still getting dropped notes, there are actually a coupld of different issues I believe.

The lost note on record things sounds like an actual bug, but I haven't so far been able to chase it down.

lost notes with high latencies could be a bug ot it could be a flaw in the code of the plugin. I need to test this.

lost notes at the start of an edit for certain instruments is what modulr has just fixed, and so far it looks as though he has nailed it fully. The code in question should not be hard to add to Tracktion, it'll probably be just another option on the settings page, like the "send all controllers off" option that is already there.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

Thanks for the update valley - and for all your work on this 8)

Post

valley: about the record one, would it be helpful if I PM'd someone a simple looped song setup which exhibits the problem? Or did you mean chasing down a cause of the problem?
